Parents, I really need some help..

Your scores are not as high as your unusually high scoring cousins. It is too bad that your GC did not encourage a retake. But at this point you still have a nice resume - best of luck to you!!

Even Harvard accepts January SAT I’s, for applications that went in on January 1. You can prep and retake in the next month if you want. Sure, some schools won’t take them at that point, but many will. And you can also pay for a rush order.

As I said, it is not at all uncommon to get low 600’s on the first try. I have heard that scores automatically go up 100 points the second time, even without prep. Not sure if that is true for most, but it was true for my kids- and they neither prepped nor studied.

But if you don’t want to do this, that’s fine too, just try to feel happier about the choices you already have.

You sound like a great student and person! Your scores are also good. I agree with the suggestion to take TOEFL if the language spoken at home is not English.
Just prep for the SAT (buy a book, make sure to get one that explains the answers, and practice, practice, review anything you got wrong) and then take it again in January. Don’t send your scores automatically with the test, but as soon as you get them, if you improve, email the admissions officers and tell them your new scores, and also send them officially.
Then, prep for the ACT and do the same thing. I have a feeling, given your SAT subject test scores, that you will do better on the ACT.
And, congratulations on your acceptances! You can get a great education at Tulane or Fordham and still go to med school!
Are you applying to Virginia Tech? I think that this would be a great way to go also!

Don’t be swayed by rankings. They are not nearly as meaningful as many make them out to be. Quite a few students from schools that are ranked far lower than the ones you are already in go to top med schools and law schools. I can’t speak for Fordham, but Tulane students do extremely well. But then, Tulane is ranked by USNWR 20 places lower than their academic averages would have them. Long story on that, just goes to show you cannot be too enamored with USNWR rankings.
