parents..info plz

Can you guys please give me some information.
When will ED applicants get to know about their financial aid award? Will they be informed along with the acceptance letter on December 15?
I’m asking this because I’ll be filling the FAFSA only after January 1. So how is the University supposed to inform the student about his/her financial reward earlier than Jan 1 without knowing the amount of Federal Aid the student will be receiving?
Thanx for any reply.

They can't and don't. There is a family contribution calculator on one of the websites, I don't remember which one and you can determine how much federal financial aid you are elgible for. Some schools have scholarships that you apply for at the same time as the general application. ie President's Scholarship. but you only find out if you made semi-finals by Dec. 15.

Some of the colleges are binding unless you can not pay...

Perhaps if you rephrase the "Can you guys..." you will get more response from the parents? "You guys" is not a very polite way to address parents...

sorry i just have a habit of saying guys, dude, etc. Forgive me. i should say respected parents.......

the school to which you applied ed is the only one who can really answer this question for you. make absolutely sure you are following their procedures for financial aid (eg, some schools require the css profile, some require income tax returns, some only the fafsa)

the fafsa cannot be completed until jan 1 by anyone. some schools use the css profile which can be completed before jan 1.

thanks for your reply guys......oops there i go again.

The family contribution calculator is on collegeboard.com and I don't mind being lumped in with others as "you guys" It certainly would never bring me to ignore a request for information ;-)

I told my daughter that I am not a dude, and will not answer to that. So much for the women's movement.

Guys is midwestern. Kinda like Y'all down here or all Y'all (plural for Y'all). Try not to do that at a college interview. It really sounds illiterate.

I have no problem with "you guys" at all. Doesn't sound illiterate to me. But I hate the word "like" sprinkled in every other syllable, so "you guys" sounds downright chummy and homey to me.

One must distinguish between informal casual conversation and an interview. I will leave you to your view. Like everywhere seems to be filler. I am not fond of that either.

I don't mind being addressed as "you guys". I see internet forums as fairly casual. (But not casual enough for IM abbreviation talk.) I don't think either "you guys" or "y'all" sound illiterate, though the latter sounds quite regional to me. I hate "like" and it's one I'm unfortunately prone to use, it's horribly catching.

I recently got a call from my alma mater for a donation. The student I talked to must have used "awesome" at least a dozen times in a phone call that was probably less than a minute. I must say it made him sound very, very young.

I dislike being called "dear" by strangers--"honey" also. Though I am sweet and dear, but they don't know that.

Sorry, rob33. This thread seems to be going off on a tangent. I really don't know the answer to your questions, but I believe that the disadvantage to applying ED is that you don't get information on financial aid until after the decision is out.
