What did he do to get off the waitlist?
I believe Stanford waitlists not many students (~2%, i guess). My DS didn’t do anything except accepting the waitlisting. The AO will keep in touch with you from time to time to ensure you’re still interested in the school. IIRC, my DS got off the waitlist very late, and he already committed to Harvard long time before the date. Hope it help you.

Freshman housing (just the yards) were into the accounts two days ago (since then they removed it), and I found out I’d be in the Crimson Yard. Is the yards randomly assigned or is it based on the form submitted? I regret that I wrote on the form that I was ok with noise and wanted to share the suite with 4-5 people (that might have been why I was placed in an Union yard). Is it worth emailing now to say I made a mistake in the form and need a quiet place with less people? Is this preliminary assignment definitive or it might change?
The yards are randomly assigned. The dorms within the yards are assigned based on the form.
The yard won’t be changed.
Have any Harvard admitted international students received their I-20 yet?
