Parents of the HS Class of 2009 (Part 1)

Sending out all the best wishes for you, RM.

Good luck RM.

RM, Happy Monday. I hope everything went just the way you wanted it to in your interview today.
How soon will you find out?

Interview seemed to go well. I think I will hear by the end of the week. Work seems exciting and something I would like. Place I worked at over 16 years ago so know a bit about the place although much has changed. Salary and benefits seemed reasonable and in line with what I would want. We shall see what comes out of it. Hopefully I will have good news later this week. I probably wouldnā€™t give notice until the 2nd and then work 2 to 2.5 weeks and then start the new job the Monday after. We will see what happens.

Well I quit today. Will start new job on the 7th. If they donā€™t walk me out I will be off from the 22 through the 1st. So really only a few more days of this. The stress relief I felt once I said yes to the other job was intense. Hopefully itā€™s a good fit and all will work out.

Congratulations @RochesterMom! All the best in your new job and Happy Holidays!

And Happy Holidays to all of you!

So happy for you, @RochesterMom! Power through the next few days, and enjoy your holiday break!

Great. Iā€™ve been hoping you would leave the soul-sapping place you were working for a long time, @RochesterMom . Wonderful that you have moved to what I hope is a much better situation.

Just finished a brutal day. I took a flight last night from Boston to Frankfurt to Vienna, arriving at 8:10 AM for a 9-5 meeting that lasted until my 6 PM call with the CEO of a company in Mexico. Then helping coordinate year-end stuff. Iā€™m now eating dinner and will get some sleep and head home tomorrow AM. Now, unless I can delegate, I have meetings in Mexico City, Vienna, London and maybe Zurich in January.

Shaw - what a schedule!

Yes I am really looking forward to this and thanks all for the well wishes. I am waiting today to see if they have me leave today so they donā€™t need to pay holiday and vacation for the next week and 1/2 then back for 3 days.

Iā€™m looking forward to a more low key atmosphere although I will need to dust of the business casual clothes. We went to casual here a while ago. I have the clothes - question will be if I can fit in them. With the stress Iā€™ve packed on a few more pounds since I wore them.

Thanks for the well wishes and happy holidays all!!!

Good to hear of your job change, RM.
Happy Holidays to all!

RM, congrats on the new job and I hope itā€™s a more relaxing scenario that lets you finish your career on your terms.

Forms filled out and drug test taken. Hopefully with the holidays they can get through the background check in time for me to start on the 7th. So much paperwork these days.

Happy dance!!! Keep us posted! How did your current place take the news???

I am on duty for Gā€™son today from 8-6. He is 3 months old going on 5 months in behaviors. Pleasant/fussy and exhausting. I am deep breathing. This is not my thing at all. But I will do my best! Love kids just not this age. Just venting. SILā€™s mother returns to live with them for the next month. I think this must be hard on everyone but all are grateful. She loves every minute (or so she says ;).

Great that you are moving in from a bad place to hopefully a much better place, @RochesterMom.

@oregon101 little kids are tiring. We had Jewish Christmas at a Chinese restaurant with a friend/colleague who is mid- to late 60s. His second marriage was to a woman who is the age of his daughters. They now have a two-year old boy, who is a gem of a kid. Happy all the time. And, I have never seen my friend so happy. ShawWife had such a good time with the kid over dinner, but I really donā€™t think I would want a kid that age around full-time.

ShawSon is home visiting. He got invited to give a speech at one of the most prestigious prep schools in New England. He thinks he is having dinner with the trustees. Not sure that is really true, but he is jazzed about the recognition. So, heā€™ll be here longer than usual.

ShawD is trekking in Patagonia.

ShawWife is painting away in preparation for bringing the work to London mid-month for her big show in April/May.

RM so exited for you. I am anxious to know what the current place said.
D1 here for Christmas. Nice for her BF to share her with us. D2 worked and was here on the 26th. My BD and D1 BD this week. its always crazy. I took a vacation this week.
Shaw we will be in London the end of June, will her exhibit be up still?
Love babies. send him over.!
We are planning the wedding. it is going fine. everyone is doing well no drama so far. It will be here sooner than we think.

The show will end May 10.

Happy upcoming BD DTE.

My boss didnā€™t say much. I think he expected it. Did ask if I was going to work for the person I am working for but I wouldnā€™t confirm. Mostly because I know he doesnā€™t like this guy. Really what business is it of theirs? He did say his boss would want to talk to me but nothing yet. Then again I have been off. We shall see. Really I only have three days left there. Really at this point just hoping the new place can get everything done on time for me to start on the seventh.

I also love the babies. So much fun until about seven then I would have loved to have Sent mine away for a few years until around 12. I can handle the babies and the teenagers. Itā€™s those years in between that I found really tough. Donā€™t get me wrong though my D could have started college a year early because she was definitely fouling the best and making me crazy.

The odd thing is that I am known to have special talents with babies. Gā€™Son had the best day he has had in weeks. Not even a 30 second cry. It is ME. I feel like molasses has entered my blood stream. RM, I adore 7-12.
DT, have a fun birthday week.

I also like 7-12 I feel its more a latent phase before the storm. I think my kids were pretty good teenagers though. I just take care of the fussiest babies on the earth so love a child without health problems.
BD was fun went to the movies.
Bought D1 another suit. She got a job !!! She graduates in May from law school.
