Happy Birthday DTE! And congrats to your D.
Great news for your D DTE and happy birthday!
RM not unexpected . I think my boss would be the same. So glad you are out of a situation you are unhappy with.
D2 is relieved. it is just what she is working toward.
This year no resolutions. Just working toward better health and peace.
happy new Year all
Happy New Year to all.
DTE, is D2 still in Boston?
We had a nice NYE party last night. ShawWife did a lot of work but has figured out ways to make it less stressful. ShawSon and one of his college roommates came for the early part of the party and went off to no doubt more fun parties. We had five couples and one singleton and filled out our NYE time capsule questionnaire. It made one of the couples very antsy (and they actually left a little early) as they are really not the introspective type but the other couples were intrigued.
sorry I meant D1
Well todayās my last day. Should be out of here by 3:30. Will start new job on Monday and Iām really looking forward to the change. Drs. appt this morning and I managed to lose weight over the holidays AND lower my blood pressure a bit. Guess moving on IS a smart thing as many of you have told me over the last few years. I thought I was too old to move again but this is the best thing for me.
Happy Last Day! Hope you have a wonderful celebratory weekend planned. You deserve it!
I donāt think Iāve posted since my momās death - or maybe I have? Hard to remember. December was a blur. Iāve been trying to keep up here, however. RM, Iām proud of you for leaving. Inertia gets to a lot of us - glad you are seeking a better situation.
Momās service went beautifully, if I havenāt reported. Much better attended than I thought. Then back to work with Christmas to prepare for, myriad issues to deal with regarding Momās estate, bills, accounts, etc., too many year end deals to close at work, far, far too many demands on my time. I barely missed a beat, all the while wondering why I seem to have been put on this earth to work and work and work. I know that practicing law is, at its heart, a very demanding service job, as being a wife and mother can be. (I could really relate to Glenn Closeās speech at the Golden Globes.)
Older D and her fiancƩ arrived from India on Christmas Eve, where they attended a wedding and did massive shopping for their own wedding. The outfit they brought back for me to wear for the Indian ceremony will be the prettiest, fanciest thing I will have ever worn.
I predicted that I would be sick by the 28th; I actually got sick on the 30thā¦an exhausted person facing all those germs from all the family members coming from all over. Iām to the stage of bronchitis where my ribs hurt from coughing. Iāve been to the doctor and now I guess it just needs to run its course.
I got through Christmas without my mom just fine - my parents only came for Christmas a few times once I was married. But as the 26th wore on, I had this nagging feeling of guilt. I realized that I felt guilty for not calling my mom on Christmas.
Iāll better equipped to face a new year once I feel better. Glad yāall are still in my life.
Thanks for the update MP. Hope youāre feeling better.
Hope you feel better MP. Take care of yourself! My mom passed almost 26 years ago. I still miss her at times. She was 54 and we got along well. My Nana lasted after two of her three children were gone. So sad really.
Work is interesting and it seems like they really want and need me. So far so good.
Glad you had a good first day, @RochesterMom.
Hope you feel better soon, @missypie.
Had nice visits with both kids during the holidays. This weekās assignment is in NYC, so got to meet up with S and his fiancee for dinner last night. Wedding plans are progressing nicely!
Good news @RochesterMom @missypie, hope you feel better.
Crazy week here. Vienna for a day with client, night in London, early morning flight to DC for pro bono project. Home tomorrow night. Then back to London midweek.
Hugs. Hope you feel better in all ways very soon.
When you have time (LOL) describe you dress for the wedding!
RM, such great news! I know everyone here is breathing a sigh of relief for you.
shaw, Do you always get a sleeper or are you just exhausted daily?
Seeing Legoland with 6 yr old GāSon soon. Get to spend time with DIL. Both make me happy!
S will join us for a few days and that is also good. I find myself wishing S was the 6 yr old.
Not sure if it is because GāSon reminds me of him (a happier version).
Guessing it is just the feeling of unfinished work with S. Thank goodness he has a fabulous wife.
CQ and MP when are the weddings?
yes want to see MP outfit hope you feel better soon.
I have been takin my supplements seriously and feeling better. I have to try to improve my immune system. My Vit D level was very low.
Yes, always lie flat seats. Yes, often exhausted as well.
Sās wedding will be New Yearās Eve, December 31,2019, in Kansas.
My nephew (who lived with us in NYC) is also getting married this year, on August 30, in the Kansas City area. He and his fiancƩe have moved from NYC to Kansas City where he just started grad school.
And I donāt travel internationally nearly as much as @shawbridge but Iām jealous. My employer only pays for economy. I used my own money to upgrade my seat to a āmore leg roomā aisle option once when the only seat options were middle seats.
I think Shaw is his boss.!
My D2 is getting married next Oct. I like the idea of a NYE wedding. something fun to do. Makes the anniversary fun too
Yes, @shawbridge is in a totally different employment category than me!
A NYE anniversary will be easy to celebrate!
So this weekend is Dās wedding shower. I will be traveling from one of the busiest airports in the country, to another one of the busiest airports in the country, in the midst of a government shutdown and a possible heavy snowstorm. What could possibly go wrong?
Good luck, @missypie! I am scheduled to travel on Monday, to an area forecasted to get a heavy snowstorm this weekend, and I will be following carefully news about how long the security lines might be at my local airport. I hope you make it with no complications!
