<p>I have a suggestion re: posting a “symbolic” graphic as our DS’s and DD’s leave on move-in day…And it’s just my opinion and way of taking the work off one person (e.g. BT), unless she/he wants to volunteer. </p>
<p>How about if we come up with a selection of symbols (e.g. rocket, kleenex, hearts) that each person can choose. The symbol may not apply to everyone. We all deal with different emotions. So each person who wants to put a logo when they post approaching move-in day can. That way we each take responsibility and also get to share with this wonderful community.</p>

<p>It was in reference to FAP’s drive through AZ. This is monsoon season in AZ. My H is from there and went to college in Flagstaff. Some of my visits have been in Aug monsoon season when the dry heat is no longer dry. Glad you made it safely.</p>
<p>artlover- I assume you are flying from CA to Chicago so you’ll get there before us as we are leaving on the 17th for a two day drive. We’ll see when PayFor is leaving/getting there. Maybe we’ll cross paths.</p>
<p>If anyone more anal than me wants to change the single digit dates to ones like 05, 06 etc they will line up better. See, I am not that bad that although I have these thoughts I don’t act on them :D</p>
<p>I take the easy way out on the hearts, I just copy them from another post and then add the color, size etc. I did that with the suns also. I know I can find them on the symbols but tooo lazy. I don’t mind adding my own self-launch symbol when the date occurs, although I might not have much opportunity as the road trip will commence. I don’t need to burden BT or some other person.</p>

<p>D and her friends made it to their campground in Maine, and S made it to campus for his weekend visit with his roommate and delivery of our old sofa. Its a GEORGEOUS weekend here, sunny, 78 and no humidity, so H and I are off to Boston for a Whale Watch!</p>

<p>I am impressed that you are going to drive from NY. I did that driving to Chi before in my younger days, I won’t do it again( I am a 28 year Newyorker). In the two days orientation, we may be able to get together just to kill time.</p>
<p>This thread grows by leaps and bounds in minutes! </p>
<p>I had concerns about S1’s readiness to take on the rigor of the Caltech core, particularly in physics and proof-based math. Well, S1 took the assessment tests on calculus, physics and writing earlier this summer and the results came back. He is placed in the normal curriculum for physics and calculus - with vast majority of the incoming freshmen - with no need for remedial work. In particular, I’m happy to be relieved of my worries on physics. S1 not only passed the Caltech assessment test, but also received 5’s on both sections of the AP Physics C’s when there was really not much incentive for him to do well on them.</p>
<p>We’ll have to wait until November/December for the real classroom assessment.</p>
<p>Oh, it looks like we are flying out there on 9/18.</p>

<p>alp (that’s you artloverplus) it is a 16hr drive for us 
we debated the southwest and stick it all in six bags plus shipments, but thought it would be easier the first trip to drive. I’m planning on subsequent trips being flying, maybe the end of the first year with one of us going out to help get her stuff into storage, after that hopefully on her own.</p>
<p>cloudy here, I will head to the beach soon at least for a nice swim, I am helping H with a sand the deck job…</p>
<p>I think people figured out the colors don’t transfer, you need to do the color and size additions yourself. Color is [color=(color name)] and [size=+#] with # being 2, 3, etc both with the closing /color, /size within the brackets.</p>
<p>alp already said the Chicago quarter ends Dec 11. They go back on Jan 2 and the year ends around June 11.</p>
