Mix of news in here-some amazing acceptances-congratulations! To my friends who didn’t get the news they wanted-sorry-but we live to fight another day!

Emmy we talked about the WL last night and he has decided if that is what he gets tonight he will not accept the offer-which I was advocating. It needs to end for him. Whatever he hears tonight I am beyond thrilled that the waiting for him will be over.

He is a nervous wreck and I am calm-this is usually the reverse situation. I think one of the reasons I am is because he feels very good, as do I, about where he has decided to go if he doesn’t get in anywhere tonight.

He has to leave at 5:45 for the swim banquet tonight. He may well not know anything if the dreaded server crashes occur. He wants to find out in a certain order, Harvard being last since that one is the dream school-but Harvard sends out an email tonight at 5 (supposedly) while Brown and Cornell require logging onto their server-so it may be he has Harvard staring him right in the face with an email while he can’t get the other two decisions in the order he wants. I know he’ll never be able to wait though-and if he leaves without knowing do you think I could be trusted to not check-I don’t think so! ;).

I may have to drag the girl out for some shopping to prevent me from getting into mischief!

Thanks to all 2010/2014 visitors that stopped by here to offer us some valuable advice.

Mnmom and scoutsmom– Congrats on the JHU acceptance! Yay!
Congrats to HighHead, UT and dignified on the Stanford acceptances! Our S got in too. He had a likely letter from them, so he was expecting a positive outcome, but was still nervous. And we are flying for a visit tomorrow! We didn’t visit before, because it was just not practical, and I in a million years didn’t think he would get in.
Researching – congratulation to you and D on the Conn College acceptance. And being done with 5 to 5 score!
RE: Likely letters. Even kids who got accepted can get their acceptances rescinded if their grades go down or they get in trouble with the law, etc… Same is true for the LL, but in most cases they are honored.

Sorry to hear about disappointing news, but it sounds like most of the kids already have great options and will be in a place they love in September no matter what. Best of luck today’s decisions: Ivies, Tufts and Duke among others.

Sorry for the denials and for those of you for which WLs are also bad news. Hurray for our JHU and Stanford admits. After we are all done, will there be a thread to add where each student is going? Kinda like the thread of Class of 2011 acceptances but with the final choice shown? Maybe it is already started and I did not see it yet.
Fingers crossed for those many, many lottery tickets for tonight.
To TPTB (the powers that be) -And if we could NOT have snow for this weekend’s Accepted Student Days at two different SUNY’s it would, by me, be appreciated.

Kinderny - I was thinking the same thing, ds has admitted students days for state u this friday & sat. and if it is snowing on Fri…eesh, that impression will not help matters. We need a sudden warm sunny day to make this go over with ds.
Good vibes and merlot to all my fellow lottery ticket holders. I don’t think ds even knows about the 5 pm thing.

I forgot to mention that the best news from yesterday is about the red wine. I have a bottle ready for tonight, no matter what today brings I will be so happy it’s over.

Our house has NO idea what will happen today at 5pm and I will be not be the least disappointed with a rejection because I’m so happy with the choices S already has in hand. But we decided that if we get one particular acceptance the family is jumping in the van Thursday after school for a weekend visit (no school on Friday). Yes, there is a chance of snow in the forecast  I hope that my desire to have some kind of plan will not jinx it!

What I don’t want is a WL! That will create way more agony than a rejection. S will have to make that call.

I’m so thankful to have this venue to share - everyone is so supportive and helpful. There are several overlaps in acceptances so I’ll be looking forward to the thread with the final outcomes! Rainy, chilly with thunder today.

Moonmaid: Congrats on Vandy–it’s one of the schools that in hindsight I wish we’d known more about!

Mnmomof2 & Scoutmom: congrats on JHU-it’s a really neat campus and I work in Baltimore at the aquarium, so come say “hi”!

Dignified1, UT 84321 and HighHead & Keylime: Congrats on Stanford-my brother is an alum and commented when my DS didn’t apply (top far away and the campus size was daunting for him)

RenMom–Waitlisted at JHU. Hope decisions come soon–waitlists are so difficult.

AvonHSDad: Sorry about Stanford. Good luck with Duke. DS is waiting on that one too and really loves the school. It’s going to be a long night!

Hang in there. It’s almost over. DS has one April Fools day release then we are done. That one really isn’t in the running right now, but who knows what can happen over a few days!

Good Morning everyone! I am another 2014er mom who just wanted to drop in say many of us on the 2014 and Beyond thread are thinking about all of you. It seems that you all have some great options already, but good luck in the “lottery” today! Once all of the decisions are in, the fun, fun, fun begins!! There is so much to look forward to…cherish every moment…there will be ups and downs along the way in that first year…if you have time to read a NOVEL…drop in on our thread and you will see just what I am talking about. We have had so many milestones within this first year and it has been great to be able to vent and celebrate with each other. Good luck and hopefully good news abounds!!

**Wednesday’s Countdown for the “reachy” schools Mega-Power College Ball Lottery Drawing.

This is the LAST WEEK for the acceptance decision countdown. 2 days of countdown left and this phase of the process is over.

Duke - TODAY is the day. Lottery drawing results will be available online at 6 PM today, March 30th per an email message to applicants.

The big “H” and other ivies - TODAY is the day. Announcements are supposed to be available online or will be emailed (varies by school) at 5PM today. The “lottery drawing” is today!

Tufts TODAY is the day. Decisions are reportedly being released late today.

March 31st schools - 1 day to go. For all the schools that haven’t announced earlier dates!

Stanford - Originally 2 days to go but they pushed it up as was suspected and announced yesterday based on the Admissions News posting on the Stanford web site yesterday. Their link is [Admission News : Stanford University](<a href=“Page Not Found : Stanford University”>Page Not Found : Stanford University)

Today is the final plunge on this roller coaster. Wonder if the CC servers will stay up and running tonight?

If your kids have already decided on their final choice you should be very happy this craziness is over and behind you!**

Not true.
also, its not very probable a student will hold more than one Likely for Athletic recruiting (very rare)
if these are straight academic liklies, its possible - though also very rare to hold more than one…

A true Likely is a nod to being accepted before the official letter is sent. Its a letter generated by the Admissions offices after the Admissions committe approves of the admit.

It is used to get the student-college love relationship rolling before April 1 and when all the cards are on the table…and is of benefit to both student and college.

Just for kicks, I bought 4 powerball tickets this morning. I just doubled our chances for good news!
Regarding likelies - I agree with the other posters - locked in unless there is some drastic issue like a suspension or arrest (a la the gal who pistol whipped her mom; my reaction to that story: great news for the WL kids!)
I wonder why Amherst is insisting on being dead last with results. Makes them less appealing to me, especially after the NPR story which continues to irritate me.
Busy at work - good thing! D is going to work out after school to keep herself busy.
All the best to you, my friends. See you on the other side, FINALLY!
