Thanks for the FA Fairy Dust 2ed!! and to everyone with the FA best wishes…

Omom-- I’m proud of you for the quick action about the car, better to just get it over with but the wrath of a HS senior can be a fearful thing at times!

Congrats to kinderny and kathiep and puma and UT on your disembarkments!! sorry if I missed anyone… and Thanks AvonHSDad for continuing to captain the SS Indecision for those of us still aboard.
If it gets down to it we will have to do the coin trick–I like that ‘what do you hope while it’s spinning’ idea and “pretend for a day” bit. and look at the FA again, post here, talk to ppl, look at job options, course descripts, transportation, closer vs farther, how they apply outside scships, student reviews, school data…what else? --oh yes, and how D1 is feeling about each school:)

Congrats to the latest disembarkee’s:
Kinderny - Hamshire
MyLB - Miami (OH); my older son graduated from there back in the '90’s. Its a wonderful school in a beautiful setting. Current S had it as his first in-state choice but he really wanted to go out of state or he would be there.
Puma12 - Whitman
UT84321 - Princeton
Kathiep - Champlain

The SS Indecision’s passenger count is shrinking fast. Hopefully, the remaining passengers will be able to disembark in the next week or so without any complications or problems.

Here’s a toast to all the new arrivals in their ports of call!

So much has happened here today! I’ve tried to focus on work today so I can enjoy the long weekend. So it was tough to catch up. Congrats to all who have landed.

Thought I’d share these two facebook statuses from two different friends today. One on the absence of the spring weather and another on patience. Two subjects that seem appropriate for all of us in this thread. Hugs to everyone!

INSTALLING SPRING…

Friends’ status: I’ve lost my patience. I didn’t have much to start with. If you find it, please return it to me.
Another friend’s response: Just saw it headed west on 36 highway, it appeared to have developed a following… Mine was right behind it! They did not appear to be headed back anytime soon…

I was considering upgrading to a suite because we seemed to be on the cruise for the duration, but suddenly we are safe on dry land. D has stopped thinking with her head and is finally thinking with her heart… and next year she will be attending Yale!!!

Hope we did not knock anyone over going down the gangway - it seems a busy day for decisions. Congratulations to everyone else who is disembarking and best wishes to those still on board!

My son promised me that today (my birthday) would be decision day. He just came home from school. When I asked him about his decision, he said that he just can’t tell me. I asked, “Are you planning to do a dance?”. Since he always writes great poems for our birthdays and anniversarys, I assume he is in his room trying to find words that rhyme with Rice or GA Tech. Stay posted. Seven more hours til midnight.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FlMathMom! It’s my mom’s birthday today, too. April 21 is a good day. I can’t wait to hear what your S does to make his announcement!

oregonianmom - D1 is about two hours from home for college. When she left almost three years ago to start school, H and I told her no car. By Thanksgiving, we re-thought that decision and allowed her to take the '95 Corolla, nothing fancy, she’d driven in high school. We have never regretted that decision. So, you can always change your mind if the circumstances warrant it.

If students do take a car, I would suggest talking through how they deal with the requests that come for a ride here or there from other students. Last spring, D1 probably did get taken advantage of because she had a car. We’ve told her no one else drives it.

She’ll graduate next spring, so hopefully that Corolla will get her through one more year of trips up and down I-5!

kinderny – congrats! it sounds like D has been in love with Hampshire for some time.

puma12 – congrats on disembarking! D liked Whitman very much too. That school has a lot of very satisfied alums.

omom – at least she knows now. One thing I like about delivering bad news before school: they have the whole day to calm down before they say something they shouldn’t.

UT84321 – congrats! Princeton is a wonderful destination I’m sure. Love the coin spin trick.

kathiep – yay for Champlain! Burlington is an awesome college town.

MyLB – congrats on Miami and the serendipitous shirt.

HighHead – great news on Yale!

FLMathMom – Happy Birthday!

Good luck to those still on board. Take those seasickness pills!

^^ waving (as I swallow another dramamine, washed down by a glass of Dom Perignon–hey, why try to save $$ for college at this late date?) at all those lucky happy souls now on shore.

I’m thrilled by every post with final destinations. We are still… on the rocky FinAid Sea praying for good weather?
