Parents of the HS Class of 2011 - Original

Letssss go class of 2011 !!!

Best place on line to buy xl sheets (and indeed any bedding) is The Company Store. Lots of XL choice and usually a sale. They even have organic. This link takes you to their XL solid color collection.

[Solid Sheets: Flannel, Denim, Percale, Knits | The Company Store](http://www.thecompanystore.com/Solid/sheets-solid,default,sc.html?prefn1=size&prefv1=XL%20Twin)

Oh the waves! I keep thinking ds is eyeing the ship as it comes close to shore. Yesterday he brought news of a cohort taking a gap yr teaching deaf kids in Africa. He thought that sounded fantastic. “Definately want to take a few yrs like that after school” he says. I know my ds fancies himself a humanitarian (always wanted to be a superhero as a tot) but he is also the one who takes forever in the bathroom doing his hair, fixing his creams and potions on his face. I can’t imagine him dealing with no running water…etc.

Good luck Mom2and - hope it all works out for you!
Madbean - Congrats on USC!!! Love their band uniforms!!

OWM: Thanks for the story of your awesome day with your son and his friends!

325 and TXArt: Congrats on U of Chicago!!! I’m so glad the FA came through, 325!

VaMom: Princeton! What a great choice!

Bcksmn99: Congrats on Boston U!

MOSB: I wish there could be a special section in the audience for your cc friends to see Songbird in Oklahoma! We’ll be cheering her on in spirit!

Madbean: So excited to read about the USC decision! A huge woo hoo!

rom828: I’m glad our sons will be classmates at Duke! Congratulations!

:DCongrats to Madbean’S on becoming a USC Trojan:D

Waving to all

Bcksmn99 I am afraid I might have missed that-if so sorry! Our kids will be very close in Boston!

Maybe once the ship has landed-no stowaways I hope-perhaps AvonDad could tally up who is where??

amanda what is up with the boys preening themselves-same thing here-I don’t get it but I will tell you with everything I have done for that kid the happiest I have seen him in recent memory was when I picked up a new brand of hair gel for his trip-I mean really-was that all I needed to do all these years? ;)

mom2and – hectic but exciting! I hope the visit goes well and a choice is clear.

Pepper- I think most have posted where the kids are headed are on the drum roll thread. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/1107293-drum-roll-my-2011-dd-ds-attending.html</a>
If that is what you meant? Or likely I am confused…

“I want to leave a quiet little shout-out to our new Maroons. I’m an alum and loved every minute there. I’ll be thinking of them as they start that wonderful and exciting journey.”

Emmybet, who knew we had something else in common than just being big list buddies!?! I did my grad work at Chicago. :)

^^ Maybe we can do a list sorted by college. Like:

Duke: ohiomom24, rom828
U of Chicago: 325… , TXArtemis
Etc…

Of cause, it would be better if we wait for the rest of us to disembark.

madbean - Congratulation on the USC decision!

Mom2and – Congratulation on the admission from the WL school! Good luck with scheduling the visit and making the final choice.

I just went through the academic calendars for both of my kids’ colleges for next year and added important dates to my calendar. Including my son’s college graduation! Wow, where does the time go? I have to admit my eyes welled up a few times.

They start classes the same week. Their winter breaks overlap for the most part, but spring breaks are different weeks. Son will probably not come home for spring break, anyway. He will be living in an off-campus apartment, so no need to vacate during breaks. Luckily, daughter will be done with her classes and finals a week before son’s graduation - we will travel across the country for that two-day event. So exciting!

And then? We’ll only be paying ONE tuition! :D

madbean: Congrats on the USC decision. Fight on! (Just learned that this weekend) I am very happy for you and your S. I really liked USC. I’m also glad that you were able to get additional FA out of your appeal. It seems like USC “found” additional money for nearly all who appealed. I’m bummed that we won’t get to hang out as USC parents next year (of course, you never know-there are still 5 days left for my D to change her mind again-egads!)

Dkarth- sorry about the scamming. It has happened to me a few times over the years and I’ve witnessed others being scammed. It is really sad that some feel they must resort to such tactics.

Missypie: Scammed by a nun? Sounds hilarious- I think we need details (or “detes” as my D2 likes to say)

OWM: Loved reading about your Mizzou day experience.

Amanda, sorry that Easter was tough for you. BBB is a great distraction. I used all of my BBB coupons last weekend, then found a BBB coupon in the parking lot on my way to the car. I felt like I had struck gold, lol

MOSB: Sounds like your D is a shining star. How proud you must be of her talents

Mom2and- Wow- a WL acceptance. Yours is the first I’ve read about. Congratulations and good luck with the final decision

Congrats to all others who’ve left the ship.

Still on board here. D visited last of the finalists yesterday. Great visit. I think she is just about ready to commit although the school has a much more intense vibe than the other finalist. Getting one more piece of info about her sport at school 2 and then she will pick. My problem is that I now have a strong favorite and am trying to keep it to myself!

So, where is the thread about schools going to their waitlists? I could not find it. Both of D’s WL schools said not to expect any news until after May 1 (I think maybe even May 15). But, I gather some others are already off some lists. Hooray!
We may be heading down the gangway any day, but keeping one toe on, just in case…

Congrats to all our happy, committed kids and parents!

mnmomof2 I think this is the waitlist thread? There may be others
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/1117842-classof-2015-waitlisted.html</a></p>

^^Last year there was a thread of “schools going to their waitlists”

People who got called off WL would post :)

Mom2and~Congrats and good luck to you on your rethinking, revisiting etc…

WavingRenaissancemomWaving

Thanks kinder. Thread is helpful. I think in previous years there was one that was actually a list of schools that have taken kids of WL. It is probably too early for the class of 2015 version of that thread. Hopefully, it will be a healthy list this year.

D1 has finally made a decision. It has been a long voyage! D1 has decided to attend Harvard. She loves Boston and is really excited!

TessaR - Huge congrats on Harvard decision!

** * Congrats to TessaR’s talented D on becoming our newest Harvard Crimson  ***
