Parents of the HS Class of 2013 - 3.0 to 3.3 GPA

I need help …

At some point in our research, I came across a site that had an interactive US map for each college that showed how many students come from each state. Now I can’t find it. Does anyone know what site that is?

I don’t know if we can mention other college search websites here, so I sent you a PM.

Thanks skrlvr. I finally figured out that that site doesn’t offer that map for every college. I thought I was going crazy!

Thanks psblstnr! That’s very cool.

Thanks for the link, psb–it’s helping pass the time while we’re all waiting for admissions decisions!

Got first acceptance today - DS got into Hofstra! Hooray!

Congrats, pkdof13 on Hofstra.
We have news, too. DS got accepted to Guilford today, his first choice for a long time. His admission counselor came to his school to hand deliver a big envelope. He got called down to the college counselor’s office and didn’t know why. He was met with big smiles and texted me. It was a nice, very personal touch!

Thanks, NPRMom - copngrats to you and your son! So nice to get that first acceptance, especially after the deferral from his ED school.

Congrats NPR and pkd on the acceptances!

We came home to a fat envelope this afternoon…It’s a yes to Loyola New Orleans.

Pkd and kelijake - congrats.

NPRMom - A hand delivered acceptance is unheard of. What a nice touch!!

My son was already accepted to oneof Penn State’s branch campuses but today he received notification that he was awarded a $4000/yr Provost’s Award which is a new Penn State scholarship. The school still might end up being the most expensive one, but he was also accepted into their Honors College. This was with a 3.3 GPA and 1860 SAT.

Way to go Ree! Your son must be so happy!

I totally forgot that the other exciting news for DS today is that he was finally moved off the waitlist and accepted to the Washingron DC CityYear program…don’t know if you all have heard of it, but it essentially puts young mentors in high-need school districts for the school year.

So son’s first choice prayer—a gap year of service in our nations capitol-- has been answered.

That’s fantastic kelijake! He got his HMFR :)

I wish my daughter would get called in by GC for some happy news. She needs a little boost right now. I don’t think the counselors at our school have any info. They didn’t even have a GC for her alphabet until one week before EA application date. No way that counselor knew any of the students to write a recommendation. We gave up on her school counselors in Jr year and hired a local private counselor.

Well, here I was complaining and my daughter just got an acceptance email fir Univ of Denver. Hopefully some merit aid will come in the acceptance package later this week.

Yay, coralbrook daughter!! (I think there was something to that Admitted Students tab afterall…)

DS in at Denver also! Congrats Coral! Hoping for great Merit aid package for both kids! DS needed some good news-- school semester dragging on and on-- 5 rehearsals after school this week plus 2 pep band nights-- ready for a break

Congratulations everyone and their offspring!! Very exciting round of acceptances. Hang in there, HeavyLidded and everyone (myself included). DD has received 4 disheartening deferrals since the elating OWU acceptance+$$, and now faces surgery during finals week (urgent but not serious, thankfully).

Sending happy thoughts to everyone, but especially for those with disappointing news. Also <<<hugs>>> In the span of just a few days DS has moved on from his #1 college ED rejection, and I think he’s liking the idea of being the in the middle-to-top of what he calls the “stat-pile”, rather than stressed from the pressure of being toward the bottom. This is real progress! Life does go on.</hugs>

Cbreeze–healing thoughts going out to DD on surgery

Coral–yay on the acceptance to univ of Denver!!

Hope everyone else is hanging in…through the good, bad and the ugly of the admissions process. And I love your son’s adaptability, oneson!
