@sseamom - That sounds exactly like my D. I’ve tried actually talking to her by phone/Facetime only two or three times in the last 3 weeks, but we chat for a few minutes on Messenger most days. I’m finding that the best way to get a response is to text her a live action shot of one of the cats since she is missing them more than us at this point.
Went to the farmer’s market this morning so that was fun- it’s only a couple blocks away
Pitt-Penn State game is today. The PA rivals haven’t played each other in 16 years.
I don’t usually watch football but I’m listening in today.
@mommdc Me too! I’m watching online! S16 was never interested in football before, but I’m glad we encouraged him to buy the season pass. He’s there now.
My sweet girls Freshmen Day of Service and Convocation is today! Really hot day in DC but she’s enjoying it!

We are watching too. I just got sent a picture of my daughter being thrown in the air by the crowd after a touchdown. I guess you just can’t take the cheerleader out of the girl that easily. Before the season started she commented about how this season would be the first time she ever watched a football game from the stands instead of the sidelines.
My DD finally leaves on Wed. She managed to stay busy working after all her friends left for their schools. Unfortunately, she’s also managed to come down with sinusitis. Thankfully, she listened and allowed me to take her to an urgent care center where she was given a zpac and prednisone. Nothing like your kid getting sick before she travels 3000 miles away.
@cardinal2020mom Praying your DD feels better soon [-O<
Very close game! Pitt wins 42 to 39!!!
Hope she feels better @cardinal2020mom ! Sinusitis is the worst!
Thanks @HappyFace2018 and @readingclaygirl. Mind you, she had a balloon sinuplasty Dec of last year to alleviate her sinus issues. She should know better than to “wait it out”.
@cardinal2020mom, would you recommend Balloon sinuplasty? I have sinus/allergy issues too.
Nail biter of a game! @mommdc
@VANURSEPRAC tough one to answer. She still talks about the sound (of her bone being broken, so she says) and pain she felt during the procedure. My D is not one to share how she feels too often. Meaning it could have done good since she hasn’t had an infection since Dec. or she’s been “dealing” with not being able to breath properly all this time and not said anything.
I would get a couple of opinions. We did have 2 docs say the she has a deviated septum and she should consider surgery because that would completely relieve her issues. But, since she doesn’t like going to docs, she decided against it. If you do find that you do have a deviated septum you should consider that route. Just my opinion based on what the docs told us. I’m no expert.
@cardinal2020mom thanks for your advice and reply!
When you receive an emergency text notification from GW notifying you of a robbery two buildings down from your child’s dorm [-O<
When you text your child to see if she’s okay and she immediately text back "yes momma, I saw the text too and I’m okay :x "
=D>
I’m sure that you couldn’t hear from her soon enough . Welcome to attending college in a city. We’ve received several alerts of things as well. It can be very scary .
@carolinamom2boys I almost had a heart attack. One of the things she/we understand about GW’s non-traditional campus it is forces her to keep her eyes open (and not looking down at her phone while she moves about her day). At 6’0, she has a presence but is always mindful of her environment.
@HappyFace2018 scary. I go to college in a(much smaller) city and there are definitely weird, creepy things that happen like some guy who looked intoxicatied trying to climb a tree on campus. Oh and there have been people whose cars have been broken into
Just purchased my sweet girl’s plane ticket home for Thanksgiving =D>
