D16 is home on Wednesday afternoon and returns to MU bright and early Sunday morning. So 3.5 days really. But she is home for a solid 4 weeks for winter break.
D16 hasnāt told me when sheās coming home! Either after class on Tuesday late morning or Wednesday. Sheās driving by herself but it only a little over 6 hours each way and sheās done it before. I hope to convince her to stay for an early brunch after church on Sunday before she heads back to school.
S16 got home this evening; his Friday class was cancelled. He told us that he wants to switch from film to math and possibly minor in film. Heās always liked math and had an almost perfect math score on the SAT.
Yay for kids arriving home! I pick up S tomorrow. Just had the longest text convo with him in the history of ever. Heās looking at adding a minor or two ( weāll see if that is even feasible!) It was so nice to get more than one word answers. I canāt wait till tomorrow! Even the 30 degree temperature drop wonāt get me down! Other S on Monday and D on Wednesday. Best week of the year since graduation back in early May!
"Even the 30 degree temperature drop wonāt get me down! "
Honestly, that made me shiver. And I superimposed the down filling of long coats into your statement.
You sound really, really thrilled. Awesome for you. Enjoy rediscovering your son.
Itās also my first week of vacation from work all year. Lol. So yeah, super excited.
D is on the plane and lands in 3 hours! It was a rough start with a late ride to the airport, mean airline and TSA people and a bag charge we were not expecting, but sheās on her way! Her favorite mac and cheese is cooking on the counter and I have cupcakes to frost before we go get her. Tomorrow itās a mother-daughter day all the way. I am SO happy!
My D comes home on Tuesday and goes back on Sunday. It will be a short visit but we are so looking forward to it.
DS got home late last night. He will be here all week. We will enjoy every minute and it will go quickly. It will not be so bad for him to go back since he has an interview for a job in the career center. Would love for him to be surrounded by all that good internship hunting info! Less āremindingā needed from me.
Enjoy your holiday @Cheeringsection
Thanks @carolinamom2boys ! Enjoy yours as well. Do you pick up your DS soon?
Tues. afternoon @Cheeringsection
Counting the days for you @carolinamom2boys
Home with S! He hasnāt shaved or cut his hair since August 17th. He is a hairy beast!
@pyschmomma, your email made me laugh! When we went to visit on Oct. 1 for parent weekend, our DS still hadnāt gone for a trim, and asked if we could drive him to the Supercuts near campus. The line of college kids waiting for haircuts with parents made us laugh (and leave). We would have spent our whole visit waiting for his turn. He finally walked over himself a week later and got a trim, but when we brought him home for a visit last weekend he was very shaggy and begged to go back to his old barber :).
All this talk about hair-D is in the bathroom as we speak trimming her hair (we have a mirror mounted on the wall opposite the one over the sink so one can see almost 360 degrees of oneās head). She has commented several times already since coming home last night how happy she is that she can take her time in the bathroom with her hair and make up.
One thing about her school is that various girls do hair or make up for a few dollars-some style hair, some put in weaves, others do braiding. The kids donāt need to leave campus to look nice. My son started losing his hair at 17 and by 20 just started shaving the fuzz off. Iāve gotten used to it now, but his beard is pretty scruffy. Oh well. His dad looked the same at his age.
DS also prefers his usual barber. He has timed his visits home well enough to get himself through fall semester but I see the need for a close to campus haircut during 2nd semester. I am sure he will want a cut the day before he goes back from Christmas break so can put that off as long as possible.
@sseamom my D16 makes great use of caps and headbands when it comes to doing her hair. Then when she gets home, the first thing she does is ask to make a hair appointment. There are girls at her school too that does hair. I told her she should take advantage of it instead of waiting 3 months.
DS16 is very picky with his hair, which is very funny to me because he is not overly concerned with his appearance. He truly is a jeans and t shirts kinda guy. He found a stylist that he really likes over the past year. He has very fine hair which can go very bad if he has a bad haircut. He tried to plan his haircuts around breaks, but it became clear that he would need one before he had another visit. Much to my surprise, he found a stylist not far from school that he likes and does a fairly good job, but he still plans his haircuts for visits home if at all possible.
Iām so ready for a haircut. I had one Columbus Day weekend and itās getting long again. Iām super picky when it comes to my hair dresser so I just wait until Iām home.
