Congrats to both your kids @dbjs70 and @kandcsmom !
Congrats @kandcsmom!
DS is home!!!
I always love catching up on the drive home. Dorm for next fall is all set. Classes are going well. Grades are good. He is having a blast getting to know his new fraternity brothers. On campus job is off to a slow start but will be more involved after spring break. Is already applying for next fallās on campus job. (Lesson Learned!). He be will happy to do the chores I have offered to make some $s while he is home. Wow, does he need a haircut!
Enjoy your time with your son. Mine is home as well. They must be on the same haircut schedule
Thx @carolinamom2boys ! You do the same.
Iām home as well. And I need a haircut too lol
D16 will be home for break next week, then the week after, D13. They will overlap one weekend. It will be nice, I think, to get one kid at a time.
Congrats to those with big news and welcome home to all the spring breakers! My D is home as well. She had a paper due yesterday so spent most of her first day at home on the computer, but we got out in time to do a little shopping at Platoās Closet, then had dinner at the restaurant where her sister works so we could visit with her. H is at the Comic Con today so D and I are taking care of some errands, then heāll join us for dinner.
This is a week of R & R for D, who really needs it-mostly the REST part. Happy to have her home!
My D16 comes home Friday at midnight. Apartment is set up for next fall, grades are good (although next yearās classes look scary) and things are going well overall. She lucked out with her roommate and is living with her and one of their suite mates in a furnished apartment right off campus next year.
Still trying to figure out the end-of-semester logistics for D. The dorms close on the last day of finals and she has every single one of her finals the day before. I guess she has one day to pack up everything in her room, get it picked up and stored, and make it to the airport for her flight home from CO with everything she needs for the summer. :-S
S16 commented on how much faster this semester is going; spring break starts next weekend. He told me that one of his math professors said while giving back tests that someone had gotten 104 out of 105. Guess who? Of course math was never a problem for him. Weāll feel good when he has an apartment lined up for next year.
Second semester does seem to be going by quickly. Spring break is in about a week and I feel like my D just left!
She did manage to get an apartment lease signed for next year so sheās excited to be out of the dorm and have a kitchen! Iām relieved she got things figured out so soon.
Laughing at all the kids needing haircuts. S only has me cut his hair and usually looks like a caveman by the time he comes home.
This semester is going way too fast. I donāt want it to end- I have friends who are seniors (tiny college perks) and itās going to be so hard to see them go.
Happy for all who will help their children with much needed haircuts and much needed R& R for spring break. It is amazing all of your kids (and mine too) have made it through almost 3/4 of their first year at college!!!
Wondering (like the haircut discussion) if any of your kiddos have mastered (or not) the dry cleaning arena in their respective college areas? My S16 has not found a barber or dry cleaner ā¦and it is probably not because they are not availableā¦
@4kids2graduate I know that my DS Knows whenāre he could get a haircut close to campus because we located 2-3 during summer orientation. I just think there is always something better to do.
My S16 got home late Friday night. He needs a haircut too! He has an appointment on Tuesday. Heās basically here to sleep and eat. Only 8 more weeks until the end of freshman year! It really did go fast.
My son has found a dry cleaner at hr offer free pick up and delivery and knows to give about 5-7 days notice . Full disclosure , he goes to school on an urban campus , so thatās an advantage . He also has found someone to cut his hair , but prefers the girl at home so he tries to plan his haircuts around visits home when he can.
My D is also home. She will have a very quiet week here to rest up. Only one of her friends is home at the same time.
My D got home yesterday, still has some schoolwork, but I donāt think she is scheduled at her job, so she should
be able to get some rest. I also want to do her taxes with her while she is home. And she needs a haircut as well.
@carolinamom2boys Wow-free pick up and delivery for dry cleaning! That would be so nice. I highly doubt that is available in my sonās area, but I may check to make sure. S will not make the 3000 mile trek home for spring break, so he may need to venture to a dry cleaner during that time. The dining hall is closed during spring break, so he has to venture into town for groceries anyway. There are a couple small towns 1-2 miles away, and additional options 4-5 miles away. He needs to sweet talk someone with a car that will also be staying on campus.
