Parents of the HS Class of 2018 (Part 1)

@Meddy As told me this is the place for bragging on our kids…Glad to hear yours is doing so well both academically (at a very top school btw) and socially.

Just got back from a trip to see our 2018er for long weekend. She is working up at campus this summer. We will get her home for a few weeks in July.

@glido 2018er lol. I bet that was a good weekend that wasn’t quite long enough. My 2018er is doing what seems like a tour of the East Coast, staying with a few different friends and having a blast. I’m afraid she may decide to become a permanent resident after this summer. Boo hoo.

S18 is finally back from UCLA, finished his final exam on Tuesday. He’s had a great year, but is missing his twin sister a lot - their semester vs quarter offset terms means they’ve not seen each other since early January. And she’s staying at college for summer classes. So he’s off to visit her next week. Fortunately they’ll both be able to join us for a vacation in Europe in late July/early August so we’ll all be able to spend some time together.

@Twoin18 Your son missing his sister is the best thing I have read on CC today!

My S18 took his last final at UCLA today - he’s off until late September!!

Wow, there are such big differences in the kids’ schedules!

I hope all the 2018 high school graduates are having a wonderful summer break!

S18 takes his summer midterm next week, between lifeguard shifts. He’s off with his girlfriend today, enjoying summer.

Good luck on his midterms! @chb088

Ah thanks @MoonKnight . It’s just one…Calculus. It seems much easier at our local college than at his college, so this was a good decision.

@chb088 Yeah, I took calculus as well at my local community college rather than the college I was attending for fall and spring.

Just had an hour long Skype with S. Last one before we pick him up from Asheville Airport for two weeks holiday in the mountains of North Carolina. Of course we are really excited having not seen him since 6th January - but he even seems excited!!
Roll on Friday…

@Whistlingal 6th of January? My goodness is that a going to be a long tight hug! Enjoy your time with him

Just sent DD’18 back to college - we only had her for two weeks this summer, but it was a blast.

Just checking in. Really figuring it’s time to get plugged back in to CC for DD23. DS18 is finishing up his 2nd summer session. Took Chem I in the first summer session at our local community college and is finishing Chem II. We couldn’t fit it in his schedule for his freshman year. Not easy classes to take during 6 week semesters but he seems to have flourished. He will take his final and leave that evening to get moved into his off-campus apartment for sophomore year! Time is flying!

DS18 is about to come home from the Brown Fellows class of 2022 trip to Europe. He has been gone for over three weeks now and has seen so much. Started in Rome, then Florence, Venice, Zurich, Strasbourg and now finally Paris. Finally home this Sunday. Looking forward to spending a little time with him before the fall semester starts up later in the week.

This summer has flown by! We’ve had D18 with us for most it, but after an exciting and fun summer, the dog days of summer are bringing boredom for her. She is ready to go back to school yesterday but will have to stick around home until the end of the month. womp, womp! I’m happy about it, as I imagine this will be the last summer she will be able to do so.
Hope you have all had a wonderful summer!

Tax free weekend here. For the first time ever. D said she did not need ANY school clothes or shoes. I went shopping by my self for the usual things, socks, underwear, etc. Snagged a Black Suit jacket at JC Penney for 6 dollars and 64 cents!!! That match the previous purchased slacks. Now she has a complete suit!!! Score one for the bargain hunter mom!
