Hello, I don’t know all the details exactly but supposedly the role has alot to do with communications, marketing, and project management. He had some good internships, campus jobs, heavy social media following on TikTok, Snap, etc., and fraternity leadership roles that supported his resume and allowed him to move forward to the various interviews he had. He was also referred by an Alumni.
I heard that theater majors are often good candidates for sales/consumer support roles. He starts as a new graduate guide and then he picks what path he wants? Or they select his future path after 3 - 12 months in training? The company is Salesforce and he can do sales, marketing, or customer relations stuff. I only know they own Slack.

Thanks for the detailed response! It is a totally different world than when we were going to college, right? That’s impressive that he has a strong social media following, and with all his internships, you can start to see how he was able to leverage his major. Salesforce is a great company. Congratulations to your son! And again, thanks for the information. My best friend’s daughter is interested in being a theatre major and my friend is concerned about marketability.

It is a justified concern. I was so surprised when he chose Theater and had no idea myself what he would be doing after graduation, but with very little debt with this scholarship and the school grants, he could pursue what he wanted to and he made it work for him. I thought he would come home and figure it out, but he is doing a study abroad program that gets back in late June and then goes right to work in Atlanta so I won’t even see him after graduation next week for a while. I could have put my fears on him, but I did not and I am glad he pursued something that made him happy while in college. I really have been more focused on my D21 HS graduate and her now freshman year at college and not much on my son. I have been known to helicopter, but he trusted the process. Good luck to your friend and her daughter. They can flourish when allowed to try something they have a passion for.

I’ve been gone for a while. S18 just graduated from Ithaca College with a BFA in Writing for Film, TV, and Emerging Media. We had doubts about him going into a competitive program. He ended up graduating Magna Cum Laude and receiving the faculty award for excellence for his major. I guess he was right that this was the best place for him.

So good to hear. Congratulations.
Second graduation done. S18 graduated summa cum laude with a 4.0 in public affairs and the prize for the top departmental thesis.

Parent brag time. D18 just finished her first year of law school at the University of Florida with a 3.87GPA which is good enough for a class rank of 4th out of 240.

Very impressive!
S18 is putting off grad school for now, and it looked like his gap year (or two?) would consist of a few different jobs he was stringing together. But then a teaching job fell into his lap that was too good to pass up, so as of August he will be a music teacher at a K-12 private school, and fully employed.

That’s great. Is your son looking at graduate school for voice/music or something else.
Yes, classical voice. But his voice is changing from a baritone to a tenor so he needs more time to transition and work on new music. Your D18 must have graduated college early to already have a year done for law school. I am a lawyer myself, though I apparently did not make the profession seem interesting enough for any of my kids to pursue. Good luck to her!
I didn’t realize voice could change from baritone to tenor as he got older. I always thought it was the other way.
My D18 graduated in 3 years as Clemson took about 38 AP credits. I am a lawyer as well and I was a bit surprised when she told me she wanted to go to law school. As it turns out I think is has worked out great for her. She is enjoying it and doing a hell of a lot better in law school than her dad.
