<p>It doesn’t add anything; it just re-lists your EC activities. If anything, it detracts from your “character” because it seems like you’re trying to pull strings by having a famous acquaintance.</p>

<p>I can understand that, but how would the letter be sent? Normally recommendation letters from important people like state representatives are mailed and are on letterhead with a real signature. How will you accomplish that? Colleges are going to think that it’s fishy if you forward them a copy of his e-mailed letter.</p>
<p>LOL. Well I hate to be rude to your Dad, but he wrote a terrible letter. I’m glad you’re getting a more personal one. If you worked for someone the bulk of the letter should be about what wonderful work you did on the job, not your other activities. It should give specific examples about why you were useful to have around.</p>
