Yeiks! I discovered today that I was supposed to submit a CSS profile with my early application (thirteen days ago). My mom and I have been working through it trying to get it completed, but we don't know much about this application stuff. Any words of assurance? Any advice? Is it too late?

Probably not too late, but if you tell us the school, we might be able to give a more specific answer. In general, application deadlines are for the main application. Supplementary materials (recs, transcripts, scores and, I hope, CSS) can come in later. Need to check the specific school's website and/or call admissions office. Unless someone here has experience with the specific school.

The University of Chicago thread has two distraught students asking the same question. The answer from the Chicago rep was "stop worrying and get them in as soon as you can".

Also, you might want to double-check what else the school wants along with the CSS Profile. U Chicago wants copies of the latest 1040 tax return as well, if I am not mistaken.

I believe you'd want the 2007-2008 form. Are you sure you're applying to these top schools? Because I don't think the schools would want last year's form.

Since the school is Stanford, you are clearly applying non-binding Early Action, so there's no big problem in your case.

It might take Stanford a little longer to come up with a financial aid letter, but since you don't need to make a final decision until May 1, you'll get your financial aid award long before that!

Since they are need-blind, late filing the Profile should not delay your admission letter; it's just that the financial aid letter may take a bit longer to arrive.
