@Debbie7452 thanks!

Now I’m deciding mostly between UT regular business and A&M business honors. Both have a lot of pros and cons!

Go with the honors option. The priority at registration makes a huge difference.

Priority registration is a consideration but the OP has already stated that he prefers a city environment, and I would think that would trump priority registration. McCombs is also a stronger program and its Alumni Network is huge.

Austin is an awesome city but UTA can be frustrating if you’re not in the Honors program. Freshman classes are huge and on campus housing is very short so there’s always the headache of looking for an apartment in an expensive town. What no one tells you about UTA: too much partying and drugs. I’ve seen lots of freshmen get seriously sidetracked because of one or the other and had to transfer to another school in order to get their lives under control. I would not recommend it to my kids.

@mtmt32 Can you tell me why you don’t like UT Dallas? It’s one of my D’s top choices and we’ve only heard glowing reports but if you have a different experience, I’d love to hear it.

@C8ntW8t I can’t really describe why UTD wasn’t the choice for me, just only that I could feel it wasn’t a good fit. I love sports and I felt like if I was going to go to school in DFW, I would got to TCU or SMU. The people I meet on the tour, walking around campus, didn’t look up when we walked by and didn’t really engage us. At all the other schools they did, so it was surprising. I know its a great school, great price, but I guess it’s one of those things where you step one foot on campus and you just know.

Don’t come to SMU the school will bleed you dry. I’m a junior from a fairly affluent family and I have a heart attack every year I receive tuition in the mail. It’s consistently gone up every year (as every school generally does) however the increases are outrageous. It went up by 25% this past year and now I’m realizing that I’m going to run out of money by my senior year. I’m really unhappy with my choice in coming here. Also in term of school environment with people being friendly and you not going greek, prepare for a lot of meanness and cattiness for being GDI because it seems this whole school revolves around classism. Just a tip.

The public school is a great school. You cannot justify the huge difference in money.

If you go to the private school, I believe you will have buyer’s remorse, esp. as a business major. Cost-benefit analysis, business 101.
