Parents refuse to submit css online

My S's friend's parents told him yesterday (Sunday) that they will not submit the CSS online because 'because they are uncomfortable submitting personal financial information over the computer'.

The CSS is needed for a EA application (already submitted for the Nov 1st deadline) and the CSS needs to be in by this Wednesday so the student can receive a FA package along with the anticipated acceptance in January.

Besides suggesting the student request his application be changed from EA to RD (so the parents can mail in the CSS, assuming that is an option), are there any other suggestions?

I don't understand why this kid's parents are refusing to submit the CSS online, especially 3 days before it is due.

He should tell them he needs the information for a paper CSS, get all the information, and send it online.

This is not rocket science O2B@C. They can complete a paper application and send it by overnight delivery. The application would not even need to be 100% totally perfectly correct, because it is used to ESTIMATE the financial aid package. The final aid package can't be determined until March or April after the family members have filed their 2008 income tax returns.

UPDATE from the OP

The parents relented and sent the CSS electronically.

Common sense wins again!
