Parents, Sleep, Concentration...High School :[

I have no problem studying hard and sleeping early. Super overachiver, mooper schmoverachiever. I guess that's because my classes take no effort. :D

tehe... mooper

My mom also hates college confidential because she thinks it takes away my studying time.
And because I ALWAYS learn stuff on cc... partially beause I never watch the news or read the paper.. I get all my current events from cc.
She'd be like, "did you know that .something something something?"
And I'd be like, "yea i found that out ages ago on cc"

^haha, mine too!
both my parents think I spend way too much time here, (and I probably do) but it can be really usefull too.

My parents don't even know I frequent the site. I will tell them some stuff I find out from here (like the only person to get the full tuition scholarship to Chicago also did better on the Physics GRE than PhDs).

My parents don't care all that much, really. They are proud of me when I do well and they'd be angry if I pulled straight Cs, of course. But if I were a B average student, they wouldn't mind.

It's sort of strange, when I think about it. I study hard (lol, at least this year I do!) and am driven to get straight As, but my parents were never that strict about school. They just sort of leave it alone. When I was in middle school, they even held me back from being accelerating another year in math to make sure I had the most solid algebra knowledge in existence.

While sometimes I am bitter about their lack of pushiness (who knows where I could be, score-wise and math-wise, had I been the child of one of those heliocopter parents!), in the end it was for the best. Studying is worth it not because I'm afraid that my mom and dad will kill me, but because I actually like learning and want to succeed academically.

My parents don't really care either. My mom is a teacher, so she knows when report cards come out. Thankfully, she doesn't mind me getting C's or B's and she never tells my dad when I get my report cards because he is the one who gets angry when I get a B or lower.

However, one time he called my Chemistry teacher (had a F in the class at the time), and I almost had a heart attack. He said he only wanted me to do homework - no TV, no internet, no video games, etc, etc. - and I had to stay out in the living room, so he could make sure I was doing my homework. Then he gave me a bedtime of 10:00 because I used to have sleeping problems to where I just couldn't go to sleep at all.

But I don't really mind him pushing me. It helped me stop being so lazy and it brought some of my grades up.

I still finished Chem with a F though :D .

Jman same here...my parents don;t care...it's like i stay up till 2 am playing this random mmrpg and like w/e lol

haha - my mom is like "study more!" and "sleep earlier!"

And then I'm like, "I get home at 7 or 8 and it takes me 4-5 hours to study and do all my homework. So should I just go from working at school to working at home?"

And then she's like, "...no, I see what you mean. So maybe study less! But sleep more!" haha

I'll be deeply immersed in studying something, the TV isn't even on, and my mom tells me to do the dishes. It's ridiculous.

Or, your six-year-old sister randomly throws a fit about a pair of imaginary shoes at 11:30 P.M. and you are forced to sift through piles of junk in the garage for over an hour looking for this imaginary pair of shoes. Time well spent if you ask me -_-".
