Parents/Students Please Help!

Hello everyone. I am in need of great help from you people.

I have asked several people in person and done research online but I am not content with the answers.

Can you all name some schools that are similar to the University of Maryland (public school) or Syracuse University (private school) ? They are both very good public/private universities, ranked very highly in academics, great social scene, and more importantly, a VERY diverse student body.

i am having an extremely hard time finding schools that fit these qualifications as well! there are some schools similiar to university of maryland but then they lack diversity. i want schools that are like one of those two but i cannot think of any others are share these same important qualities.

please do share!!

Define “diverse”. There are as many definitions of that phrase as there are people, and some definitions are more “diverse” than others.

Why UMD? Why Syracuse? What is your probable major?

If you like UMD, and are in-state, check out the other MD publics as back-ups.

If you like UMD and are out-of-state, check your own home-state publics.

like Syracuse and UMD how (other than diversity)?

Hi! I’m a student from Maryland.
NC state has an extremely high acceptance rate for students for my school.
I know I can get in because its not fairly hard to get into in general, but for those of you who are familiar with the school (since i know NOTHING), could you tell me my chances of getting in? You can never be too sure

GPA : 3.3 UW and 3.9 W
ACT : 29 (taking another in october)

my extracirriculars are good but too much t to post here. i’m very involved in my school and outside community

@mrmom @jkeil911‌ when I say diverse I mean that there is a good minority population. for instance, i would not feel at home going to a school where there is a 88% caucasian population and 1% asian population. (i’m indian)

I think you might need to clarify that - and this is not a criticism. All minorities are not created equal - HBCUs are minority majority, but I don’t think they contain the minority population you’re looking for. If you’re looking for colleges with a substantial Indian population, just say so, there’s nothing wrong with that. No one expects all Asians to be the same either, Chinese and Koreans hardly substitute for Indians when you’re looking for someone with the same culture. Sharing the same ancestral landmass is not the same thing as sharing the same culinary and religious traditions.

If you’re looking for diversity in general, this might help:
