Underage drinking? Colleges may tell mom, dad - Addictions- msnbc.com

Many parents remember fondly their own alcohol-soaked undergrad years, and may not be overly alarmed if they are contacted about their child being discovered with a beer in hand.

S’s school notifies parents on the third citation - which would be considered a minor offense, I imagine. And while I can recall my undergrad years, I can assure you that if I got a notice from the school son would be put on notice that we won’t be paying for the party going forward. It would be his choice if he wanted to continue at the school (in which case he would severely cut down his partying) or not continue.

At the time I was in undergrad, the drinking age was 18 for beer/wine/ale…not that this limited options…
I think most of us were “safely preserved” like lab specimens by mid fresh yr…
Saying that—sooo much time, money etc was wasted

Don’t you think times have changed a bit though?

First–its illegal now–
Second-- there is far more educaton about binge drinking, driving DUI etc etc…

I recall seeing old/closed drive-through liquoir stores/package stores where you could buy a mini bottle and set up to go…WHAT WHERE THEY THINKING???

We already have this thread on the same forum.
