Parents Want Me To Expand

According to US News, the top engineering schools that are also some of the top 50 schools in the US are all in California lol:

[Rankings - Best Engineering Schools - Graduate Schools - Education - US News and World Report](http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-engineering-schools/rankings/rank+50/state+CA)

So guys. Add the last one to my list. UCSB, CalTech, Stanford, USC

Note I have no chance at getting into Stanford or CalTech, USC is a terrible community/ I don’t like the general type of people there, and UCSB is a party school.

So what is your pick? (Sorry… I really have no desire to go out of state unless its like an awesome school)

Whoa…why did you put Carnegie Mellon as your safety? 38% admitted ≠ safety.

fine its a match

idgaf aha.

I’m not leaving Cali except for Cornell. Only one.

people choose one!

UCSB, Stanford, USC, CalTech

Party, Selective, Bad area, Too Techy

If you’re worried about getting in, UCSB would be best. However, you do already have places like San Diego and Davis that might be better and that you’ll already probably be accepted.

I say take a shot at Stanford.

Regardless of the admissions rate (dunno what it is, but I’m very very familiar with the school), GT is probably not a safety for you…the school is not as easy as a lot of people think it is.

It’s like 61%… Regardless I have no desire to go there.

Okay you shouldn’t have mentioned it then.

blackroses if you are looking for engineering UT-Austin>>>>Rice. I can even confidently say that as far as undergraduate studies go UT is the best school is texas with Rice as second. If you are looking to major in liberal arts dont go to UT. They dont give a crap about lib arts and focus mostly on the powerhouse programs (engineering, business) as well as natural sciences. Im from Texas so i know about texas schools.

IV: I mentioned it, not the OP

Oh my bad. Sorry.

Wow IV. Wow.

TCBH s t f u

lol guys
relax, it’s all good. B)

Also, here’s my final list:

College List:

UC Berkeley
Stanford University
Harvey Mudd College
Cornell University
UC Los Angeles
Rice University
Washington University- St. Louis
UC San Diego
Brandeis University
Carnegie Mellon University
UC Davis
UC Irvine

(Rice instead of UT because I am interested in a liberal arts like education)

haha… I’ll probably get into like five of these… oh well.

Looks good.

No super-safeties for you?

UCI kinda is my super- safety. I was thinking Cal Poly SLO, but my dad was kinda like “how low can you go?”

btw WashU has about a 22% admit rate so thats a reach for anyone

OK, I’m sure you’ll get in to plenty of your schools anyway :)

no doubt the OP will get into some amazing schools
