The parents forum is not where you are going to get someone to "guess" as to your "chances" of admissions. You need to do some research yourself about the colleges you are interested in, to see where your stats fall, compared to accepted students from prior years. That will give you a better an idea of your "chances" than a guess someone posted by a stranger.

First I hope that you took your psats this past october. Second schedule your sat's as soon as possible take them often. Next, University of Michigan is extremely competitive academically I would say doubtful at this point, but can change if you raise your gpa. Start taking AP's asap and challenging courses, no weightlifting! Miami of ohio would be your shoe in. Penn State maybe, but it would not be main campus. Wake Forest...doubtful unless you can bring up gpa and class ranking. Get into NHS, if not join your foreign language honor society. Make sure your volunteer hours can be documented by the hospital, otherwise look into a paid hospital position or even a tennis instructor at the local club (shows athletics year round)...colleges want proof

i have done my research , i just want some outside nonbiased opinions

As menloparkmom said, you are highly unlikely to find parents speculate on "chances." As you know, you can do that on the What Are My Chances forum, and the answers will be worth just about what you paid for them :D.

Which is probably why you came here, for more sensible and reasoned thoughts. But as a rule, we "just don't do chances." What the parents often will do is weigh in on whether your list appears to have a needed balance in selectivity and financial feasibility.

With that in mind, I'll start: I think it looks pretty nicely balanced, although I don't know the admissions profile of Indiana/Penn State. Do you think they might be safeties? I'm thinking Miami of Ohio will be but would like to be sure you have another one or two - unless your EAs come in.

I don't think you have any unreasonable reaches - congrats on that.

Are you going to do rolling for UMich? or any others? I would advise that and then, if you really like those schools, you can eliminate any others that you don't like as well.

As to financial feasibility - do you have that worked out? Will you need and qualify for financial aid? Are you seeking merit aid?

thanks for the help, my safeties are miami OH and indiana because they have like a 90% acceptance rate. and i am doing rolling at mich, that is absolutely my first choice and if got in id only apply to 3 or 4 more schools like chicago washu and emory, and i wont qualify for financial aid , but merit would be nice although not a necessity

Do WUSTL and Chicago have athletic training major??

no, that isnt really a neccessity to the college i go to

oh yeah im applying EA to chicago and also applying to purdue

last bump,

Re the suggestion that the OP take the SAT asap and often: Why? He has a 34 on the ACT which is superb and good enough for any college in the country.

I think you have a good shot at Indiana and Miami of Ohio, but the rest are reaches. Your grades are low for most of the schools on the list.

Midwest colleges want ACT, East Coast want SAT's will accept ACT but want SAT. The reason why is that it is not uncommon for kids to do great on ACT, poor on SAT, thus, it gives a bigger pic. My s had to do that, ACT35, SAT 2020, not as if they were looking to see if it was a fluke. admissions wanted to place him to a specified core within the u and you must have both to prove your admission. If u are in the middle of the process its hard at this pt to get ed if u haven't taken both tests. Also PSAT gives meritorious scholarships and awards, who wants to turn down free money?

I have never heard of a school that requires both ACT and SAT. Some require SAT IIs regardless of which other test you've taken, some will take ACT with writing instead of SAT I + II. But NONE, as far as I know, require SAT I + ACT.

If u r applying for a specialty school at certain state univs. they do require it. Plus certain colleges ask for ACT and not SAT and vise a versa. I have yet to come up on an app that asks for SATII. U of Penn doesn't ask for it and that is IVY. You can submit them as add. info, but not required.

Point again was PSAT/SAT offer scholarship $$$, so if you score a 34 u might have a chance for a meritorious scholarship. I think in any scenario given (parents pay/student pays) 3 hrs out of the students life for a 5-10K scholarship is worth the time , thus take the test.

In our district the PSAT is given during class for everyone that has completed geom. Didn't have to pay for it. Kids scored in 95% & above, received national meritorious awards and became eligible for scholarships. Also helped for college apps, since the award was nationally rec. by the college bds.
Finally, go and uy the book Cash for College it is a great resource---lists scholarships foor every person possible
