I see that I can buy tickets for the football game on parents weekend online at ticketmaster today. Is there any reason to wait until they go for sale through the parents weekend registration process? If I get them today, I know I will have them. Will the parents weekend tickets set aside by the school go fast?

Also do we need to buy a ticket for our student or do they automatically get one?

Students get in for free with their Commodore card.

Although students get in free they can only sit in the student section. If you want them to sit with you you need to buy them a ticket with yours. With the increasing success of the football program it not as easy for students to sit wherever they want without a reserve seat ticket.

Idklol:
You should be able to buy them now through the school per this on the parent weekend info:

“If you do not plan on registering for Family Weekend and would like to purchase tickets for the game, call the Vanderbilt ticket office at (877) 448-2639 or visit [Vanderbilt Official Athletic Site - Vanderbilt University](http://www.vucommodores.com) after August*1. Ticket availability may be limited.”

Also, here’s what I was saying about the student tickets:
“All Vanderbilt students have free seats in the Vanderbilt student section. If you would like your student(s) to sit with you elsewhere in the stadium, you must purchase additional ticket(s).”
From here: [Saturday ? September 28, 2013 | Parents and Family Programs | Vanderbilt University](http://www.vanderbilt.edu/families/familyweekend/eventschedule/saturday/)

Well once you get in the stadium, you’re in the stadium… The student entrance doesn’t even lead directly to the student section, you have to pass all the other sections first. No one checks tickets as far as I remember.

Two years ago our son was able to come sit with us after getting in on a student ticket. I thought this year they were playing someone good but now I see they are playing the Universiy of Alabama at Birmingham. I would imagine there should be plenty of room for students to move around.

Pancaked, do you think I should just buy one ticket for me then and assume my student will be able to sit with me somewhere we find a couple open seats together (maybe at or near the student section)?

GoDoresx2: That is the link I followed for tickets today. It takes you to a ticketmaster site to purchase them. I am registering for parents weekend, and just wondering if there is any advantage to waiting until next week to buy the tickets. I was thinking the may sell out, but after looking at it today, I get the feeling the games do not sell out. Is that the case?

Playing the University of Alabama at Birmingham? Not likely to sell out.

are tickets for specific seats? in other words, if i am buying tickets for my family & D would like us to sit with roommate & family or some friends she has made between now & then, do we need to buy tickets in a block or can we just find seats together somewhere?

i have heard we should not miss the athenian sing. is there anything else we should make sure to register for/ get tickets to? i am assuming the football game falls under this category? not a big football family, but want to be where the action is & socialize. please advise!

The tickets you purchase will be assigned seats, but students get free general admission tickets. We didn’t have any trouble having our D sit with us last year, even though she came in with her student admission and we had assigned seats–and that was for the Univ of Florida game, which was a much bigger draw than the Alabama game will be.

We enjoyed the tour of the athletic facilites. It was interesting to see where they train and eat.

Another option this year is to buy your tickets off Stubhub. I bought 4 tickets in the South End Zone for $3 each. This came to a total of $28 once fees were included. That’s less than the price of one $40 Parent’s Weekend ticket and now I have two available seats if my daughter (and her friend) want to come sit with me during the game. It’s also a lot closer to the student section than where the Parent’s weekend tickets were for last year’s game (against Florida). Since they are playing UAB this year, there are hundreds of cheap tickets available on Stubhub (and other ticket sites).

DoreDad (or anyone else who would know):
What section were you in when you bought tickets through the Parent Weekend? What section were you in last year?

The tickets were honestly pretty bad seats for last year’s game against Florida. They were in the upper half of Section A (rows 40-70?) which meant we were in the corner of the north end zone and we were packed in like sardines. It’s bleacher seating almost everywhere in the stadium so you’ll get a good chance to meet your seat neighbors!

Florida was obviously a much bigger draw than UAB will be this year. I don’t know if the seats will be in the same area this year but I prefer the South End Zone seats that I purchased over last years location. Plus, I figured that I could save the $100 on seats and use it for a decent dinner instead.

Thanks for the tip, DoreDad. Much cheaper to buy through stubhub! Some of the cheapest tickets listed the delivery date as 9/27 though!

I wouldn’t worry about that 9/27 date. Stubhub automatically generates that date based upon the game date. The sellers don’t get paid until they deliver their tickets to you, so they have an incentive to mail them off ASAP. The 4 tickets that I ordered for the UAB game also had the 9/27 delivery date but I received them via UPS last week.

The SEC announced that the UAB - Vanderbilt game is at 6:30 PM. Thought you might want to know so that you can make plans.

That is helpful-thanks!
