Parent's Weekend....Football game...

So... we received the form to order football tickets for the Parent's Weekend in October...how well attended is the game that weekend?....$50 per ticket seems kinda high for a NU football game... aren't tickets available through other sources for a much more reasonable price?

Thanks...

I think most of the conference game tickets this year have been bumped up to $50. Previously they were all $40, but I guess they want more revenue.

...I watched a good number of NU games last fall and didn't see any where the stands looked close to being full so I'm trying to decide whether to groan and send in the $50 a ticket or buy some tickets from another source....any advice?

Frazzleddad - my D, a rising HS senior - has NU at the top of her college list. In what part of the South do you live, and do you have a S or D at NU? How does s/he find the campus environment and weather?

fifty bucks is pretty steep, i agree... but i dont know where you could find them for any cheaper, if thats the face value.
the only reason why i think ticket prices jumped is because last year was the first year where students get free tickets to football and basketball games. They probably raised the price to offset the cost of selling them to the student's for so cheap.

frazzledad: wasnt it full for the Ohio State game? it looked pretty full in the pictures ive seen. I imagine the conference games are pretty packed.

frazzledad, My concern with not ordering tickets ahead of time for parents' weekend is that they are playing Wisconsin. The Badgers are die-hard fans, and the school is an easy commute to NU.

Actually, last year wasn't the first year of free tickets for students. They were always free until two years ago when they decided to charge $15, and the students complained until they made it free again. And yes, when Wisconson rolls into town, there will be more red in the stadium than purple. I went to every game last year, and the only one that was even close to sold out was the Ohio St. game (which was actually sold out). $50? Unless you are a diehard fan or really want to show your son your support of the school, I would suggest finding something better to do in Evanston or Chicago.
