Parents' Weekend Oct. 19-21

Anyone else going? I didn’t go the last two years but S is not coming home during semester break–and I will finally get to see a BU hockey game!

I went once but then I live around the corner. If there are activities you want to do, then it's worth going.

I recommend the Marriott Courtyard in Brookline. Very nice hotel, on the C line and 10 minutes walking to FitRec. Also a ton of restaurants around.

Hotel prices are insane that weekend. I think there is a regatta. However I found an incredible deal at the Sheraton Newton Hotel right on the 57 bus line-- $139/night. I used a hotel room web site I've never seen before. I was so shocked at the price that I called the Sheraton to confirm they had my reservation. (They did.) On Travelocity the rates for that hotel are over $200.

I haven't been back to Boston since moving S into his dorm in Sept. 2005 so I'm looking forward to it.

My son, husband and I are going and I can't wait! Older sister is close by at ND, so we get to casually visit her from Chicago and touch base for football games. However, they only have a Junior Parent's Weekend, so this will be our first real Parent's Weekend. Plan to attend or skip formal activities, just do whatever our girl would like to do! I am actually going a day early just to hang out and enjoy Boston.

I am taking a red eye from California on Wednesday night to arrive Thursday morning. I reserved tickets for a few complimentary events but whatever S wants to do is fine.

That Sheraton sits atop the Mass Pike in Newton Corner. You can actually take commuter rail in from there; it stops at Back Bay and sometimes even at Fenway (when there's a game). You can look this up on the MBTA website. There is also an express bus to Newton Corner but I think it only leaves from downtown near One Federal.

The regatta is the Head of the Charles, which is a massive rowing event.

kinshasa- I am stuck in OH with the 2DSs. Hope your weekend is great. I did get out to Boston this past summer after visiting son at Tanglewood (DD worked for BU over the summer) and we had such a nice time. Drove over to Walden Pond one afternoon--bet it would be beautiful that weekend! Lucky you.

In his typical compulsive analytical fashion, S has already plotted the best public transit route for me. The 57 bus stop is about a block away at Washington and Bacon.
