Parents' Weekend

So, do all parents make it to this? After flying down there for Move-in, it seems like a lot for us to come down again so soon from MA, and our other son has a lot going on that we need to attend to. I am sure this is the case for other families, too. So we were thinking of not going down again for the Parents Weekend, but then I was told at a recent Elon event that "all" parents do make it to that weekend, and we better hurry up and reserve a place to stay before there are no hotel rooms left.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

We never made it to parents weekend any year. We live in NJ and the extra travel was too much. Do stay for the Freshman Convocaion though on move in weekend.

We went the first year but we will not be going again. Parents weekend comes up fast and then fall break is a few weeks later. I may go and visit on another weekend when she needs a break.

Thank you Scout mom9 and momofboston, I won’t feel quite as guilty now. And you’ve reminded me that we can go another year, when perhaps it will feel less hectic.

No worries, your daughter will not feel left out at all if you can’t make it; we barely saw our son his freshman year. Having said that, we did enjoy the weekend. We were able to attend the concert which was excellent, the football game which was unfortunately wet, and having coffee at Leo Lambert’s house on Sunday. And, our son appreciated the opportunity to go off-campus shopping for some things he had found he needed. We were planning to go this year, but we have a conflict. If anyone is looking for a room, I will be canceling a reservation at the Country Suites in Graham tomorrow!

we are another freshman fanily that is also are passing on “family” weekend. After reading about it, it does not appear that we would be spending that much time with him and traveling from Long Island that is not a good fit.

I will be cancelling reservations at the Marriot Greensboro and also the 4 point Sheraton also in Greensboro. Do not ask why i made 2 reservations
