Parents Weekend

Does ND have a parents weekned for Freshman and when is it usually. I have 3 to coordinate next year.

No parents weekend for freshmen, other than the freshmen orientation. There is a Junior Parents Weekend--I think it's like the third weekend of February--that is a longstanding tradition.

Parents do get guaranteed tickets to one or two football games each year, which turn into "unofficial" parent weekends. (Actually, every home game is an unofficial parent's weekend.)

IB is correct this year the 2 choices are Navy or Air Force, you can select your choice and get that weekend or try for both and you will get a chance for both or you may only get the one weekend you draw. The game over the Veterans day weekend is always very nice. Two years ago the Navy weekend was great in that there was many ceremonies that remembered the reason for the day and the cadets and there families were a nice blend with the ND family and fans.Charlie and the team going over after the game was very moving.

SMC --- from the web site : http://und.cstv.com/tickets/07-fb-special-games.html

"In 2007, parents of returning Notre Dame undergraduate students may apply for tickets to two home football games (Nov. 3 vs. Navy and Nov. 10 vs. Air Force). Parents who apply for tickets to only one of those two games may designate the game of their choice -- and they will be guaranteed two tickets to that game. Alternatively, parents may apply for two tickets to both games. They will be guaranteed tickets to at least one of the two games, but will not be able to specify the game for which tickets will be guaranteed. They will then be entered into the general alumni lottery for the second game.

The Parents game for incoming (first-year and transfer) students will be determined at a later date, based on demand. This game will be announced in early June 2007."

Looks like us freshman parents have to wait till June to find out which game we can attend.

Trance you are correct as cut/pasted,spoke to them today and the applications are due out later. Seems like I took the long route to get to the info you posted.Sorry if that caused some confusion. Will say that you should not give up, have called the ticket office and got tickets the week of a game, however hotel arrangements thats another thing........

Like your freedom thank a Vet.........

I enjoy the Academy games best, personally. There's no spirit of "They are our mortal enemies" on campus, and people thank the military folks for their service and whatnot. Also, the Army Golden Knights parachuted into the stadium for us, which was totally awesome. Really, it's just such a warm and wonderful feeling having all the academy people on campus.

Based on past experience will the parents' game for incoming (first-year and transfer) students be either the Navy or Air Force game or will it be one of the other home games?

Additionally, how many tickets are parents allotted?

Thanks for any information you can provide.

Parents can get two tickets. I got an application in the mail for the two parent games--not sure if this is on the basis of the one who just finished his sophomore year, the incoming freshman, or both. It includes a lottery fee, which I didn't quite understand--I didn't know they needed to do a lottery for those games. I also got an alumni ticket lottery application, which includes all games...and more fees. Return dates that I saw were May 15.... Looks like its Fed Ex time....

By the way, the parent games are the ones you mention kkova--Navy, on 11/3, and Air Force, on 11/10.

My son is a Navy ROTC and really enjoyed the Navy game his freshman year. At the end of the game, Weis had the team stand at attention during the Navy song, as well as ND's. The Navy ROTC kids were hosts to the Academy cadets... I'm sure the same thing happens with Air Force. We're going to the Air Force game on the off-chance we might get a few more sightings of our son than if we were to go to the Navy game, where he has more official commitments...

The incoming freshamn game info is supposed to come out in June
