I just talked to my son (band co 3rd year). He said that he will not be there on Friday for PW. He will be at firefighting school in New Jersey and will not be back until 6pm. My husband and I are of course disappointed in this. I wish that we had been told when the PW schedule had come out that some kids would not be on campus on Friday or better yet - scheduled the firefighting for the next weekend. At least we will still have him Saturday and Sunday.
Does this affect anyone else?

my 3/c has to do
fire training too
said to end before 5pm

Don't feel bad 2010bandcomom my son has to be back at 3 pm for football practice on Sunday. We get him less than a day!!!!

Our son is on offshore sailing team and they are sailing on both Sat and Sun.He thought they might get to use the Mariner for the parents to watch but doesn't know for sure.

I just learned that my kiddo has a rugby game and has to be back at 10am on Sunday. :( We're bummed but on the other hand excited to watch him play. I guess we have to take em as they come and appreciate what we do get.

At least that is what I keep telling myself.

He's probably bummed that he can't sleep late on Sunday... but then again anything past 0600 is sleeping late! :D

kathynp: I thought Toop was considering giving them to 6:00 p.m. Did he decide not to?

My understanding was only if they won!!!

I don't know, I think it's all a little unfair.

reality is

you will see them when you see them

they are now completely independent beings

i love you all
especially the moms

but

these cords are cut

they love you
they adore you
and they will always be with you

when they can

this is a new beginning

and a good one

my reply is welcome to the military!! Be happy when you actually do get to spend a few min with your kids! treasure each one because I can promise you they will be few and far between in the years to come.

as with pigeons

they will sail away

and eventually most will return

for a fine meal
tears of joy
and warm conversation

i miss mine almost desparately

but this is the cycle of life

as we are just the launchers
in our KPers journies

Kids hold our hands for a while,
and hold our hearts forever.

Well said seagle01.
