Parents Weekend

My son will be a freshman this fall at UCF. We are from the Philadelphia area. I was wondering how many parents go to the parents weekend in October. My husband and I were thinking about flying down for the weekend but the flights are very expensive now - the cheaper seats seem to be gone. If we don't go to Parents Weekend will my son be one of the only kids without parents attending? Thanks for any insight you guys may have.

I don't think my parents will be attending, either. And we live 2 hours away.

(My parents also didn't go to orientation at ALL -- not even to drop me off -- and I think I was one of the only ones lacking parental units.)

A lot of parent's come. There is a home football that weekend (obviously) and if you son is involved in any large organizations (i.e. Greek), the organization does something for families as well.

Tailgating/football is amazing for only having one year under our belt on campus.

One year? On day one it was like you guys had been doing this for YEARS. Very nice tailgating.

We live in the St. Pete area, so we'll be going to parent weekend again this year. We had season football tickets last year that we shared with some family in the area. I'm not sure we'll be doing that this year - it was a lot of driving. But a LOT of fun.
