I was looking on ND's website for a parents weekend for freshman and couldn't find anything about it. All I found was a "Junior Parents Weekend". Do they not have a Parents Weekend, or do we just not find out about it until we get there or get more information? Or do they just assume parents will visit on weekends for football games? Thanks!

The only “official” parents weekend is Jr. Parent Weekend. It is held the middle of Feb. We attended this year. Festivities run Fri through Sun-- a gala, department workshops/meetings, dorm luncheons, President’s dinner, and a Sunday brunch. It is fabulous and most parents attend.

All parents receive (can buy) football tix. Which games are specific to which year your student is in. You can try for up to 2 games; you are guaranteed at least 1 of them. These kind of also function as a non-official parent weekend, as tons of parents attend.

I agree – every football weekend is essentially a parents’ weekend, especially because so many parents are alumni. And then there is Orientation.

Ok awesome! That is what I figured after looking online, but thank you both for verifying!

This question is from my parents. How difficult is it for parents to get tickets to a game? And how difficult is it for other relatives to get tickets?

Your parents should receive a mailing by the end of June with specific dates that you can request tickets for. Last year we were offered a choice of two home games and one away game. If i remember correctly, you can only order tickets for one home game and one away. The ticket limit for the home game was 8 tickets. I’m not sure if extra tickets are available for relatives. You may just want to order the maximum amount and share them among your family!

They guarantee 4 tickets per student though you can get an extra 4 (though this is done via a lottery system). However, you are not going to be able to select Michigan or Stanford, you get a choice of Western Michigan, Utah, and/or Tulsa. Again, I think they are $70 per person and for the Yankee Stadium game (though everyone is only guaranteed 2) is $125.

Also, the first weekend of Freshman Orientation can be a sort of Orientation for the Parents - there are activities for them to see the university.
