Figures, all the hotels around Elon are already booked up for OCT 1-3. Any creative suggestions on finding a room?

They almost always free up about a week or two before the parents weekend. Lot’s of parents from far away make reservations (sometimes for several rooms) and then cancel when it’s not going to work for their schedule.

Put your name on the wiat list at the Courtyard and the Best Western. Also there are hotels that are not that far away on I85. My wife and I have stayed in Greensboro several times. It is nice to get away from the crowds, and is only 30 minutes away.

Try Chapel Hill. Plenty of hotels and restaurants. Travel to Elon is a breeze.

Adding another headache to our First Parents Weekend… I wasn’t too concerned with planning for this and now I see that the only football game tickets available are for the Grass! Is that any fun or a real pain in the bottom? I feel like such a fool for believing this could be planned after I got her packed!! Any ideas for tickets w/ seats that aren’t Visitor?

^ lol… Rookie626 it will be just fine… Your going to enjoy the event not just the football game… The grass is fine (bring a blanket to sit on) and everyone will be mulling around anyhow…

Guess I should get my tickets soon too…

Guess we’ll see you on the grass! Thanks for the encouragement.

Been away until today w/ Move In. Wow! What a well-oiled machine! Love this place.

We have a hotel booked in Burlington but now I’m realizing that’s not the most economical thing to do. We paid $170/night to stay at the Comfort Inn in Burlington for move-in weekend, and it’s costing the same for Family Weekend - but that’s almost TWICE what they normally charge. (I just checked, a room at the Comfort Inn on Sept 9th would only be $90). If you head toward Greensboro or Durham, I bet the rates drop as you get further from Elon on their “big” weekends. (Unless Wake, Duke, or UNC is having something big that weekend…)

Since my DD was part of the Orientation program, we had to drive down a week early, avoiding the high hotel rates for move in weekend. I feel bad not going to Parents Weekend this year, (especially since we went for all 4 years for my S), but fall break is only a few weeks later and we plan to drive down then.

Rooms are available at the Comfort Suites in Graham at $139 AAA rate, $149 best available rate today. I haven’t stayed there so I can not speak to the quality. It is close to Elon.
