Wonderful news for the young man! I'm such a patsy for a happy ending. I hope his story continues to be happy in the coming years.

How wonderful that this student will be getting the opportunity to make a wonderful life despite his family situation! I love to hear about good things happening to kids whose circumstances so often conspire to hold them back. How great that you were there for him & willing to help.

Good, I'm glad he doesn't have to suffer for the failings of his parents. Just because a parent has money doesn't mean they are supporting the child. I think the 24 year old cut off is ridiculous. You practically have to be an unmarried parent to get around the 24 yr. cut off. 20 should be the cutoff, plenty of people are self-supporting by that age. I was self-supporting at age 19, was out of the house and had put myself through CC. At that point, why should my parents income have factored into my financial aid? It wasn't like they were going to start contributing at that point. Of course that was quite a few years ago.
