Parents won't help out with college/ testing payments?

A = 4

So straight As would yield a GPA of 4.0

To have a GPA of less than 4.0 with “almost straight As” means that there must have been a number of grades that were B (= 3) or lower. Just one D (=1) can really decrease a GPA.

Thank you guys for all of your suggestions. I’m considering going to a community college while working so that I can afford to transfer to a better college later on. I’ve also considered taking a gap year and using that time to earn money for college also. Btw, just to clarify- I do get all a’s in school. I wasn’t aware that an A was considered a “4” on the gpa scale, I thought that you just found the average of all your grades (mine is a 92) and then divide that percentage by 4 (which would be 3.68), so I guess I do have a 4.0 lol. Anyways thank you for the advice, much appreciated!

Different schools use different conversion rates for 4/A/90+ etc. You probably want to discuss this with your guidance counselor and find out what your school uses. An average of 92 would often be a “Low A average” along the lines of A- which works out to (you guessed it!) 3.66 to 3.7 on some A = 4 scales.
