uch has neone else had this problem…so after i got accepted, i slacked off a bit in school-typical senioritis. so i had a final today and when my dad asked me how it was, i said i thought i messed up on somethin and he flipped out saying im not discipline and hardworking in studying and im not gonna be able to survive at penn and tht ill be wasting his 40g and blablabla and i keep telling him i AM hardworkin and ppl in my class think i work TOO hard but he thinks i wont survive with penn ppl. and hes like “well see when u get ur grades” and of course theyre gonna go down a lil and hell shove it in my face. how can i convince him tht i just wanna relax and enjoy the rest of high school and tht i do work hard? thx :(

I haven't really ever worked "hard" in high school. The hardest thing was like taking an hour to read a book or something.

gr8...thx for the help:< some ppl have to study to get grades;theres very few who are brilliant enuf to just get them and im not one of em. but tht doesnt mean i ALWAYS have to study.

o shut up....how pompous can one get, honestly!

lol i feel the same way slic...btw whre in la do u go to school?

yo choc....i understand where faux is coming from (i dont really do much work either, but i dont get good grades - so thats that)....although he may not have worded it well at all....

dont worry abt not being able to keep up with penn kids....as far as i know, the workload in college isnt as bad as what we are told to believe.....jyou will be fine.....just TELL your dad you wanna relax a little (that youve worked and earned your right into penn because the admissions people KNOW you will do well).....good luck

yeah, its finals week right now, and im more worried about how im going to start trying again in college

CChip- This thread caught my attention because of the title. I don't know what's up with your dad. Perhaps he's worried about you slacking off too much and having a hard time re-gaining your momentum next year at Penn. My own son was admitted ED and seems to be "enjoying" himself now (he's still not home from school today-ok?). My only worry is that he'll lose some of his study habits and momentum - kind of like an athlete who takes almost a year off from training and is then thrown into a marathon - that's what I imagine it would be like for a great student who slacks off all senior year and then goes to Penn. Your dad might be worried that you won't recover from your slack. I'm sure you will, but it will be harder than if you had just kept it up at a reasonable pace. Seems that your dad isn't handling it well, though. I bet your dad is just worried about you - not your grades. If he's like me, he just doesn't want you to have too rough of a time next fall.

If you were smart enough to get in, you'll keep up at Penn just fine. You've managed to get into the #4 school in the country - early. I'm sure you can figure out how to make it out of high school without totally losing your mind :)

whenever any of my friends see me doing any form of work they're like "grusd, you're in college! why are you working?! that's so <expletive>!"</expletive>

but i seriously haven't been able to let senioritis kick in as much as it should kick in, although i'm trying to get it badly!

omg i know...ppl are always yelling at me about why the bleeeeeeeeep am i even in school but my dad is and forever will be anal about tht stuff

yeah, but i heard you're a ... nevermind!

heard i was wht???? stop doing tht pandy! maybe u need more credible sources wandering wht nonbleeep lol girl from ur shul and micha told u8?

calm down children
