I’d like to start a discussion about the Park Scholarship 2023. The essays this year seemed pretty hard, and I don’t think I have much to write but I can probably figure something out. What are you guys writing about for them?
Is the deadline Oct 15 or Nov 1? It looks like they moved it to Nov 1 because of the hurricane, but is that for only NC students? Also is NCSU’s early action date Oct 15 or Nov 1? The Park website says Nov 1 but the actual admissions site says Oct 15.
Hi, I know this is much later and you’ve probably already submitted your app, but the deadline for Park is Nov 1 for everyone and the NCSU deadline is November 1 ONLY for hurricane affected students (it says they highly recommend that you submit the app by October 15 if you were not affected by a hurricane). I’m not sure what I’m writing about yet the procrastination is real.
I double checked the email, and it says we would hear by 12-21. So I guess it might be before then, but unlikely. Morehead Cain said by 12-7, and they didn’t notify until like 6pm on 12-7.
I’m waiting for the notification as well. Also, @Waiting2107, I’m guessing the decisions are later this year because the application date was extended. Good luck to everyone!
I had heard that any of the semi-finalists that advance to be a finalist would still be awarded the full scholarship, even if they are not selected for the Park. Anyone know if that is true?
@NC Cajun: I don’t think so. I heard all finalists still get $2K a year though. I’m not sure why they would choose only certain people for Park but give all finalists a full scholarship; that doesn’t make sense. I could be wrong though.
Congrats to those of you who made it to the semifinals. My son did not. 1450 SAT (770 on Math), ranked #2 in his class of 260 students, 3.95 unweighted GPA, 16 AP classes. Captain of varsity tennis team for 3 years and founder and president of table tennis club at his school. Good work experience, clubs, and extracurriculars. Excellent essays and recommendations, but his volunteering and leadership experience were probably average. Out of state so I know that makes it tougher… He’s pretty bummed, but he’ll be okay.
Came in both regular Email and Wolfpaw email. Need to wait until my son gets home so he can open the link. Fingers crossed… Congrats to @stuckinthefuture and @lch2019!
My son didn’t make it either. 1580 SAT (800 Math). Top 1% of class of 550. 4.0 unweighted. 10 APs. Captain of football team and lots of service, including founder of a service org for student athletes that has grown in the last 2 years. Guess they were looking for something different than what he offers. I had always heard that being from Wake County makes it harder, and I guess that’s true. Hoping to get some good news from some others now. Best of luck to those that qualified for the next round!
