Parking at CMU...

For any current CMU students, I am wondering if CMU allows freshmen to park motorcycles on campus.

Thanks!

By all accounts CMU's parking facilities are terrible; i.e. inadequately small. Freshmen are not allowed to have cars, since there aren't enough parking spaces. To be on the safe side I wouldn't bring any vehicle other than a bicycle. I'm not a current student, as you probably know, but I'm 80% sure about this.

Forget parking at CMU - it's a disaster. You will really not need a vehicle at all, though. Part of your student fee gives you totally free access to city bus system that runs right through campus 24/7. Also, the shuttle to the airport stops on campus (runs about 6am-11pm daily) and costs about $3.00 one way. Pitt/the museum area is well within walking distance, as are Shadyside (about 15 min.) and Squirrel Hill (about 30 min.).

What about bikes? Do they help? (I seem to recall there being a lot of hills in Pittsburgh)

Regarding bikes:
My S says that it really depends on were your housing is. There are a lot of hills in Pittsburgh. He says you won't need one because you'll end up using the bus all the time anyway.

I am just a big bike guy... If I can't have my Turbo, then at the very least I would like to have my bike there. Although I am still searching for private parking around the campus.
