Carerra: I own a miata. I think I might leave it at home during the wniter months of really cold new york (brr!) My dad likes to drive it anyways. But hte point is, when I am going to have it with me, my plan (a well thought out one i might add) is to park it in new jersey. Yes, I do have friends over there, but you may be able to find a cheaper parking spot there. Otherwise they run pretty high. But they are there. The only reason you would really need a car is for road trip purposes, not within the city, so it would be pretty long term parking, if you just search it online, you'll come up with stuff, and I suggest you look at one which you are comfortable with, that they will not mess with your car. But if you decide on NJ like me (:)) I know exactly which bus to take from which spot to get to the suburb towns in NJ. My mom grew up there. We can discuss it later on AIM if you want if we both get in.

I live in Florida, but my cousins live in Greenwich,CT and If I go to Columbia, I might drive my car up and leave it there, so whenever I want, I can just take the train out to greenwich, and use the car ( It wouldn't be often)

see, i think that is the best method, if you are going to have a car there at all. because NYC is so expensive. But I don't know, I mean, my miata was a birthday present, but it isn't a very practical car...i mean, sure it's a 6 speed and pretty cool looking but it's just that...maybe I should trade it in for something...useful...that fits some amount of luggage? you know? I'm sure my dad would trade his car with mine lol. He has a lancer, that isn't bad, eh?

Thanks... my parents live in westchester, so if I were to do that, I would just leave it with them.

You have a Miata. Thats awesome!!! I love the miata, its a great car. And don't let anyone tell you that the Miata is a womans car, because it is not. I would love to have a miata, such fun to drive.

it is fun to drive! I love driving it. i'm just so worried aobut the snow...

Yeah, you should be carefull in the snow with a small car like that.

i love the 6 train..it rocks..:)..o yeh and the E train is soo fuqin quick..haha:)

i may leave it at home (NC). I haven't decided yet. I have time to decide. I might take my father's car (Lancer)

Lancer would be safer.

I take the train a lot also... I just want the car with me.

i love the train :) So much fun. But I love driving too. I just like the whole process of getting from one place to another. It is fun. and relaxing. and i like music too. and that's a good time to listen to it.

Miata - sorry but I'd have to go with it being a "woman's car" I am sorry, I love you guys, but really I wouldn't step into that car
- ever -
Its just the way I was brought up.

Lancer - I like, especially if its a Evolution GSR VII.
And your not gonna get around the snow in that either unless its and evolution because evo has 4 wheel drive.

The real question is, what Porsche do you have? :)

I love Porsches. My dad's A6 2.7T is a blast to drive, I can't imagine how fun a Porsche would be.

I have a 2003 Porsche 996 Turbo...

I respect your opinion rushin, but I completly disagree. In fact, I think it takes a real man to get over the steriotype of the miata as a womans car, and to buy it because of how fun it is to drive it.

Mann.. you guys are actually going to drive IN MANHATTAN?
Woah.. isn't that crazy?
And isn't parking just insanely expensive??

the traffic isn't too bad in the columbia area.

Yeah, its a tad expensive, but traffic is not that bad.

It only took me 10 minutes to go from mid town to Columbia the last time I took the trip.

o well i won't be getting a car if i go to columbia..
i'll just take cabs and the subway.. and the bus i suppose?

otherwise i'll just take a ride in other people's cars! lol..

I will take cabs... I am not a big fan of the subway system, but the trains are nice. That is if I don't want to drive.

The #1 reason that it makes no sense to have a car in NYC is that it'll take you 100 times longer to drive somewhere in the city than it would to take the subway or walk...you absolutely do NOT need a car. And if you leave nearby you can go home for your car if you need to.
