Parking at Tulane

good? bad? nonexistant?

Good ... garage ... expensive ($350 - $375 per semester) ... check on rules for freshman (my daughter didn't take her car until sophomore year)

S will be a senior. Freshmen are not allowed cars unless it's changed from last year.

Parking is difficult to find and expensive for parking passes---just like most colleges in urban type settings. Also, they are also very agressive about issuing tickets...which has set my son back quite alot of $. I even got a ticket there once, protested it because of the situation, and they "reversed" it.

You can always find parking a few blocks away off Freret. S1 lived a few blocks down Freret and had no problems with street parking - either finding a spot right by his house or with leaving his car on the street.

Altmom is right--if you go a little bit off campus, there are more options.
My comments were strictly in regards to on-campus parking.

You've got to watch out for tickets parking off of campus though. Most of the areas around campus require residential permits through the city for parking longer than 2 hours. And they will ticket you if you go over. The ticket ladies are out nearly every day when class is in session. I'd stick to the parking garage unless you move off of campus. The garage has plenty of room, I've never had a problem finding a spot in there.
