How does it work? I read in a transfer booklet that they completely dissuade people from bringing cars to campus but I really want to if I decide to attend. I don't want it to drive around campus but instead to travel home (about 4 hrs drive), maybe go in to town for necessities, etc. Basically? How does it work? How expensive is it? Would you recommend it?
Thanks!

Having a car is nice....but it can be a pain. I'm sure it's changed but when I lived on campus 3 years ago a parking permit was $648 but you have to park on North campus b/c at the moment there is very little parking on West.

If you go to Collegetown...parking is worse. My friend shelled out $1000 for a spot. Even though it's pain....having a car is nice. I don't have a car here....but my friends lets me use hers.

i park for free on the street in ctown. It's not that easy finding a spot because everyone is competing for them, but 75% of the time, I find a spot on the same block I live. It's 24 hour parking, but Ive only gotten one 15 dollar ticket so far the whole year for parking. On the days that I can't find parking, I have to park 3 blocks away on a residential street, but there are no restrictions there. Likewise, theres 24 hour parking on the street down on west campus and north campus (well 2 blocks from campus) that are usually available, but you would have to move your car everyday (they don't check on weekends i don't think) or you will get a ticket.

How many kids up there have cars?
