Hi Everyone,

parking on northside is extremely limited and all street parking spots are metered or have certain time restrictions or require residential parking permits. Depending on what time your daughter gets up here parking restrictions may or may not be enforced. Meters become free parking after 6pm, and before 9am on Mon-Sat and are free all day on Sunday. Residential permit areas (Zones F and G) allow 2 hour free parking for non-permit holders and are enforced 8am-7pm Mon-Fri (you can park starting at 5pm Friday and not move till 10am Monday morning). Residents can buy parking permits for visitors if they live in a house/apt complex (not dorms). They are $2 for one-day scratchers and around $25 for 14-day scratchers. You can buy these by showing proof of residency (no students dorms) at the customer service center M-F ([RPP: Residential Preferential Parking - City of Berkeley, CA](<a href=“The City of Berkeley”>The City of Berkeley)).

The university has a large parking structure that has certain available spots for public parking on Hearst Ave near Scenic (Lower Hearst Structure) [Visitor Parking | UC Berkeley - Parking & Transportation](Visitor Parking | Parking and Transportation). However be warned there is no overnight public parking allowed and cars will be towed away before Saturday’s football game.

this saturday will be a parking nightmare as there will be a football game at the stadium. Free street parking in residential zones F and G will be competitive and off-street parking runs between $30 and $50; meters will still be enforced! Certain streets near the stadium will completely ban public parking and your car will end up towed away if not moved. Parking fines will also be doubled in the campus zone which includes all of northside and southside (a $40 meter expiration now becomes $80)

As a car-owner and resident of northside that has received a few parking tickets, I can say parking is difficult here and residents absolutely never move their cars whenever there’s a concert at the theater or a football game. Parking citations are ridiculously expensive and getting your car towed away is unpleasant and will set you back around $300 + the ticket fee. In general, always read parking signs carefully, pay attention to curb colors, and make sure your meter is paid

Public transit is the way to go. Or find someone that has a parking spot or driveway you can use. But I’m guessing that’s not the case.
