i just heard this is it true? and if so is there off campus parking that can be purchased? i'd rather not live in the middle of nowhere and not have a car.

Yes that is true. You could get a spot in town but they are expensive and hard to get. And if you live in East Halls it is kind of silly, because you walk to town to get your car to drive, where?
And you will not know until July where you will be living, and by then it will be too late to get a spot in town.

Where do you need to go? CATA has buses that will take you wherever around State College.

Going off campus? With 40,000 undergrads, you will almost always be able to get a ride whereever you need to go...The Daily Jolt has a ride board where you can post where you need to go and when: http://psu.dailyjolt.com/

you can rent a storage shed, its just whenever you need to get to your car you will need a ride to it or take a taxi.
