Parking Permit for Fall still not in mail?

Hello, I made a thread about this already but I think I'd get more replies here. Sorry for the double post.

I paid for an annual permit on August 2 and still did not get my parking permit. I heard that you must now pick it up in person? (even if you chose to have the "mail" option?)
Does anyone know if this is true?

Also has anyone actually received their permit by mail?
I looked on the UCLA website but could not find any type of information on this!
I also can't find the deadline to pick up the permit... does anyone know the date?

Thanks in advance.

I’d like to know this myself.

I’m pretty sure I read that they no longer mail them when I went to pay for my own. You have to pick them up on campus.

@kwwboarder

What did you have to show them to get your permit?

I believe you bring your license and bruinID i might be wrong someone correct me if i am!

by the way… does anyone know where on campus do we pick this up?
and where is the best place to park in order to pick this up? (preferably free and minimum walking) lol.

Sorry I haven’t actually picked it up, I meant online. In the confirmation they send out when you pay there’s an email address if you have questions-maybe try that.

Ok so I called. And it isnt true that you have to pick up yourself this year. This is only true for dorm students and people living in the area code of 90024? ( I think she said)

So if you chose the mail method you are fine but its for commuters and carpoolers only.
Apparently they wont be mailing them out until sep. 4.

Let me know if anyone heard otherwise.
No wonder I was so confused because I never saw that message saying you have to pick-up in person. I guess this is only true for ppl who live really close

Sorry, I’m a dorm student so that explains it :)

no problem  glad we got this resolved. it was making me nervous. i would hate to show up to the first day of school without a permit

Dorm students, 90024 have to pick up in person. This is because they need to show verification documents. Most dorm students and 90024 residents will be receiving permits because they have off-campus jobs that necessitate vehicular transportation. Thus, they need to show two recent pay stubs, a valid drivers’ license, and your ID card.

So, if say you are a dorm/90024 student, and you’re new to UCLA, PICK UP YOUR BRUIN CARD FIRST!!! Here’s the URL: [Welcome to UCLA’s BruinCard](http://www.bruincard.ucla.edu). Their office is at 123 Kerckhoff Hall. You might have gotten your BruinCard during orientation. You can also receive your BruinCard in the mail if you followed all of the instructions given to you here: [New Bruins - BruinCard - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/newbruins/Bruincard.htm)

IF you are a student who needs to come to UCLA Transportation specifically to pick up a parking permit, there IS a way to get reimbursed. (NOTE: Not applicable if you are picking up transit passes, etc. etc. etc.) Read the following carefully and post here/email transportation@ts.ucla.edu if you need clarification:

1) Go to a parking kiosk to buy a DAILY parking permit. (Do NOT go to one of our lots with pay-by-space.)

2) Ask for Structure 8, since it is closest to UCLA Transportation’s offices, which is on the 2nd floor of the Strathmore Building.

3) Ideally, PAY FOR YOUR PERMIT IN CASH. This is because you can get reimbursed on the SAME DAY, in cash, from the parking kiosk on your way out. Pay by credit card and it will have to get processed by our staff.

4) Inside UCLA Transportation’s offices (which, by the way, are on the 2nd floor of the Strathmore Building, located at 555 Westwood Plaza), you will go to the side of the room that reads “COMMUTER SERVICES”.

5) Ask for your permit (politely – civility will get everyone far in life) AND a “REFUND APPROVAL SHEET”. It is light blue and about 1/4th of an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper.

6) On your way out, go BACK to the kiosk and hand over both the refund approval sheet PLUS the temporary parking permit affixed to your windshield. You will be given a cash refund.

Some caveats: Of course, you could forget to go to the kiosk on the same day. If so, you have up to FIVE DAYS to visit the kiosk. Otherwise, you will have to get this thing called a Request for Refund. It will take longer to get approved. You won’t get cash but rather a check. AND you’d have to make another visit to UCLA Transportation’s office. While we are always happy to see you, you will find that you have other things to do with your scarce free time besides visit our office. (Right?)

Admittedly, it will take you some time to do this. I’m guessing between 20-60 minutes, based on how speedily you go from parking kiosk to parking space, UCLA Transportation’s office, and back. But you already pre-paid for the space, and there’s no use paying another $10. I wish this were simpler.

^ thank you for that

a question. if you’re living in a dorm, you have to show documents proving you work in order to pick up your pass, after we do this is there a chance we’ll still be audited?

Yes, you could be audited again if you’re a dorm student. You’ll have to show pay stubs that show you’ve been working relative to the quarter of the audit (ie if you got audited in winter quarter, you need to show stubs that have dates within winter quarter.) If you’re a dorm student, your address will get verified by UCLA Parking. And if you are a dorm student who gets a permit because of an extenuating circumstance, you’ll have to show some proof of that – ie. a doctor’s note for your ill relative.

There may be some caveats or exceptions or special circumstances with your case. If that is so, you might want to email us at parking@ts.ucla.edu or look over this web page: http://map.ais.ucla.edu/portal/site/UCLA/menuitem.789d0eb6c76e7ef0d66b02ddf848344a/?vgnextoid=e9c8d0227de5c010VgnVCM100000db6643a4RCRD#20</a></p>

Sorry for the dire tone of this post!

Will I have any difficulties because I’m a Regent’s Scholar? When I applied they kept on trying to say I wasn’t a Regent’s Scholar and that I was going to have to appeal for parking but they finally figured it out. I’m just nervous that they won’t have me on some list again and then they’ll want to see pay stubs or other proof that I don’t have because I don’t need it.

@kwwboarder - looking into this for you right now. You shouldn’t have any difficulty since you are, after all, a legitimate Regent’s Scholar (congrats, btw). But I empathize with you.
