Hi, all. I'll be returning to IU in the Fall for my sophomore year. Last year, I did not have a car on campus, but circumstances have changed, and it would really help to have my car this year.
I know that any student is eligible to purchase an E or F permit from parking operations and that there is a waiting list for D permits from RPS. (I'm living in Ashton.) I put my name on the waitlist today, but they say they won't notify people until the beginning of August. The list is by housing priority date.
I have three questions:
What is the difference between E and F permits?
Would my odds of being able to regularly snag a space at 11th & Fee or Jordan be good, or would I likely be stuck at the Stadium?
I was eligible to apply for housing on April 22. I've heard that the D permit waitlist is pretty bad, but I don't know numbers. Do you think I can get a D permit for the Fall?
I'd appreciate any information you can give me. As I said, transportation is going to be a big thing for me next year, so this is making me a touch concerned. Thanks again.

Non-freshmen are given priority for D permits, but that being said, where you’re living will put you in direct competition for that 10th street lot with everyone from Wright and Teter. D permits are based on zones, so the 11th and Fee lot you’re talking about is for Foster. Your lot would be the lot between 10th and the SRSC.

An E permit would be adequate if you don’t get a D, and honestly it’s a short bus ride for you. Hop on the A bus at Kelley. You are unlikely to find a spot on Jordan if only because the Greek chapters have easy access to them so they are hard to get.
