I was thinking about purchasing a permit for the Parking Center because all of the on campus parking has sold out. I saw that it is cheaper than PS1 and PS2, and I would rather take the tram than walk to campus because of safety.

Is there any way to get parking on campus after it has sold out? I am on the waiting list, not sure what that really means.

Can I switch to a different type of permit for the Spring semester?

How much of hassle is parking in the Parking Center?

Do they assign more permits than spots? In other words, am I gauranteed a spot in the center?

What is the difference between PS1 and PS2 and the Parking Center besides the proximity and price?

Finally, does anyone know how the carpool permits work?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Parking center.. pretty much sucks. It's so far away (well a block or two) but you usually can't walk there by yourself because of the neighborhood after it gets dark. (especially under the freeway bridge. Its so creepy.) i remember walking to it really early one morning and being surprised by this one hobo guy who was sleeping on the corner of the street. You'll probably see him if you park in the parking center at one point, LOL. I was just surprised because I didn't expect somebody to be there (he covers himself with trashbags and blankets... I thought it was a huge trash before I realized it was a person haha)

ANYWAYS The tram takes exactly 15 minutes to get to the parking center from Leavey library, and you gotta wait for it. It comes every 10 minutes. I suggest getting bike or something and biking there instead.

PS1 and PS2s much closer, and that's about it. I think you can switch to another permit, but you should ask the office that instead. You are not gonna have problems parking though, the thing is 6-7 stories tall and I didn't have to go up more than one floor once to park (because 2nd floor was full)

Simply its too far away. If you plan on using your vehicle more often, I suggest moving it closer somehow. i had it in there for a year and I find it quite a hassle.
