Parking

Hi. I was wondering about the student parking situation at Rochester. I live in Wisconsin and plan on attending, but I'm not sure if I want/should/need to bring my Jetta with me. Is it expensive, what kind of parking is it, etc?

Thanks!

i don't think freshmen can have a car the first year. but verify that from the website.

Yup, you're right. I missed that line amidst the other information. Good to know...

Any info on parking after freshman year? I love my car dearly, but I hate to see it sit in storage for most of the year, if it's going to be a pain/too expensive to bring it with me after the first year.

Thanks!

Virtually no colleges allow freshman to have cars. The same applies to UR

Rochester Institute of Technology allows freshman to have cars and parking is free for students (unless they opt to pay extra for reserved spots).

which says something about RIT - a car comes in very handy, i hear, because there is little to do without one.

Finding stuff to do hasn't been a problem (apt parties, going to clubs, going off campus for shopping, movies, dinners... as well as trips to Toronto, etc) - finding the time to do all she wants while keeping As is trickier... Kids without cars get out all the time by bus, taxis or with friends. I agree with you though that there are kids that don't make any attempt to do anything and then complain there's nothing to do. Those same kids would be sitting in their dorm rooms complaining at any school. Unfortunately, there are too many of them at RIT but that's not everyone.
