I'm living in an apartment out in Emeryville (about 20-25 min drive to Berkeley). I'm thinking of driving there. Are the Underhill and Ellsworth parking structures typically really crowded? I know a permit's $355 per semester but I'm willing to pay the price.
I'd take AC Transit if it was faster (I have to first take local transit to the stop for the F line); it's about 40-50 minutes by bus including transfers/waiting. Thanks for the info.

just wondering are you from Socal of Norcal. I am from socal, and I don't know as to whether i should bring my car up there.

I think you should be fine finding spots in those structures. Yea they are rather packed, but there's usually at least a few open spots, at least from what I've seen during the day.

That's quite a steep price to pay though, not to mention how much you have to pay for apartment parking. But I suppose it's a lot more convenient than AC Transit.

And why does where you come from affect your decision to bring a car to Berkeley? Because you don't wanna drive six hours to bring it up?

well if u are a freshmen living near campus then dont bring a car.. i think that the parking structures are such a rip off! but i mean if u live far like the person who started this thread then yah... how come u decided to live in emeryville.... i dont think its that far from berk to emeryville... its only like 10 min away but i guess plus the traffic and stuff esp on university ave....

unknown, I'm from SoCal and yes I did drive six hours to bring the car up here. XD Rather long route but cheaper than paying someone to do it. You get to see the nice scenery cough desert cough. If you're living in dorms definitely don't bring one, you can just walk around.
Nah, I've tried the F bus from emeryville to berk and it's a good 20 minutes with various stops etc.
Too bad the car's already here. I decided to live in emeryville for necessary reasons. ;)
