<p>If you want to have a car, your only real option for housing is the Francisco Torres dorm. All the other ones are located on the main campus (or west) and don't have a lot of parking space.</p>
<p>I'm from San Francisco also and went to UCSB. As far as dorm parking go, if you want easy access to your car, live in Francisco Torres (now called Santa Catalina), as it has a large parking lot in front of the buildings. Parking for Freshman dorms and Manzanita (at least when I went) was by Harder Stadium, which is EXTREMELY inconvenient (you have to bike to your car). An alternative option for Manzanita Village is to park in Isla Vista, but sometimes you gotta make it to the 6700 blocks before finding a spot.</p>
<p>EDIT: It looks like like UCSB now offers parking close to Manzanita (lot 22) and the freshman dorms (Lot 2) for ridiculous prices:</p>
