Parsons Dorms?

Anyone have any suggestions?

I've decided that I'll be attending Parsons this fall; my last visit to NYC I've only got a tour of the school and didn't have time for the dorms. =P any advice/suggestions are helpful.

i would imagine it be cheaper to live off campus, roomating with someone, than actually living at parsons dorms. but honestly i don't know.

Unless you want to live in Brooklyn I doubt it.

nothing could be further from the truth. good luck finding a one bedroom apt. in that neighborhood for less than $2000 per month.

My nephew eventually found cheaper housing, not in Brooklyn but in Harlem. Quite a commute to his studios at Parsons.

Regarding Brooklyn, my daughter has a good 1 bdrm apartment for $1500, but she's lucky to have found it. Pretty much everything half-decent was $1800+.

Ill be staying at the residential halls they provide.... and was wondering which one is good... lol
I won't get my own apt until I get out of school...... or junior yr most likely.

Dude, you can see project runway for free! yay! As long as you mean school of design... and where are the dorms in that building?

Well in regards to your original question, I never actually saw them, but I asked some students there about them and they said they are "okay", which I guess is a pretty good endorsement. I know that they aren't really dorms but more like 3-4 person apartments.

have you guys ever heard of new york . craigslist . org? you can find roomates on there all over manhatten. of course if you restrict yourself to a 5 minute walk from the campus, you're limitting your options, but it's easy to find a room in manhatten off of craigslist for less tahn 1000 a month.

obviously if you want a whole apt to yourself you wont find nothing close to that.

Well I went onto the Parsons site and took some virtual tours and compared amenities such as kitchen, showers, and exercise rooms. I ruled out a few of the options because I would rather live in a dorm meant for only freshman, just because I feel it will be easy to make friends that way because we are all in the same boat. Stuyvesant Park dorms appealed to me the most as they were built in 2009 which in itself says a lot about the place. And Loeb is my second choice because it has a work out room… Even though it was built in 1989 as the first Parsons dorm. 13th street is a super nice area but I want to be able to cook and they only have a cafeteria downstairs. Hopefully that helped :)

All of the dorms are for freshman at Parsons excepting the one downtown on William Street.

We saw 13th Street and Stuyvesant Park and DD made a decision for Stuy-town. Loeb is appealing as well, on paper, but we hadn’t seen it.

This is NYC living. The neighborhoods are the most beautiful in the city. Because it’s prime real estate, it is small. Similarly NYC apartments. The only way to find comparable housing for the price would be to live in Brooklyn or Queens, perhaps further.
